I don't believe it!
After opening my starters I purchased some additional packs.
The third card in the first pack was a Perfect Babe Ruth! (For some reason the screenshot I thought I took didn't work, but here he is on my roster...) |

You have no idea how much I want that card I think if I drew it from a pack, I'd have an existential crisis whether to sell it to fund my team to an insane level, or keep it because it's so beautiful.

Imagine if you accidentally clicked on "Sell card".
That would be an "oh s**t" moment for the record books. |

I nearly fainted as it was. I was glad I didn't pull it on my team that I plan to use only Live cards. 'Course I guess I could've sold it and got enough points to get nearly every one of 'em. |

In all of 19 I never pulled a card that good, and I'd guess there's a good chance I was in the top 10 percent of packs opened. I was always a "whale" that rarely could get past the bigger whales. (My only 2 Perfect Level championships came in the same week with two different teams!) But this gives me some hope. |

Informal Poll:
Should I field a weak team throughout the Entry Pool, in order to try to get seeded into an Iron Level league, just to see how many HR's Ruth could hit in such a league? |

Ironically, the roster bug affecting lots of us is preventing me from changing the roster of Ruth's team.
Since he was in the first pack I opened, he's on the Active Roster along with one diamond and a couple golds pulled later. The rest are mostly starter irons and bronzes. Ruth alone is giving this team a winning record against entry level competition. I'd move him to Reserve, but it doesn't take, so I hope they fix this bug soon. |

LOL That crossed my mind. But I keep track of my packs to compare my percentages of cards against expected, so I'll know! I opened another 199 packs today after that one with average luck coming in very close to expected returns in every category except Gold cards, where I had very good luck, pulling 35 compared to the expected 20. I didn't pull another perfect, but one in 200 packs is the expected return. Lucky that I got the one in the 30% of non-Live and even luckier when it's the one of, I believe, 45 possibilities that's Ruth. I don't know if there is an equal chance of pulling any of the 45 historical, but if there is my chance of drawing Ruth on my 3rd card figures as: a) drawing a Perfect card, 1 in 1000 b) drawing a Perfect non-live/historical card, 1 in 3333 c) drawing a specific card from those 45 cards, 1 in 3333 x 45 = 149,985 d) drawing that card on or before 3rd attempt, approx. 1 in 149,985 divided by 3, or 1 in approx. 50,000 |

Congrats. Very nice pull.
I saw your comment before the kids opened my packs and thought that will never happen to us. Then the kids pulled a 97 Hank Greenberg, 100 Lou Gehrig, and a nice Willie McCovey. Clearly someone thought we needed lots of options for 1B. Still hoping to find your card down the road.

Reflecting on this, is it considered tanking to not use Ruth or some other cards I have in order to get seeded low after the Entry Pool?
I don't want to violate the Terms of Service, but I've looked for them and don't know where to find them. I'm not doing it to game the system or to earn extra PP that I could afford to buy anyhow. It just would be really fun to watch Ruth work his way up, and clearly other people would be interested in observing as well. But the argument against that is that it's not fair to the teams unlucky enough to face my team when doing that. Either way, until they fix this bug affecting me, nothing I do on my team (roster moves, strategies, etc.) takes place on the server, so until it's fixed I don't have to decide how to proceed. |

I think it's a very gray area. I personally think it's ok, in the name of experimenting while games don't count. But I could see where others may disagree. I highly doubt any action would be taken against you for entry pool play, though. Not a battle the powers that be would want to fight. Having said that, hopefully you'll actually have a say in the matter soon with the fix you need!
