The End Of OOTP 19

With the last update coming out a few days ago, it seems that its now on to looking at OOTP 20. I have been playing for 15 years now and have to say that I have never had as many problems with an OOTP game. The constant crashing really became a problem. Im not sure if its just windows 10 or what, but having played the game on 3 different high end computers and still have to save all the time because I knew a crash was right around the corner is very aggravating. Im hoping OOTP 20 doesn't have the same problem.

Been playing OOTP19 since it was released, have not had a single crash. Not one.

Hate to say it's not the game, it's you, but...

This is actually by far the best game release I have experienced - playing since OOTP 13. Don't know what the issues you were experiencing may have been, but the general mood on the board this year seemed better than ever in terms of not having issues. Good luck!

I've been playing since OOTP 6 or 7. I have had only a hand.full of crashes through 5 or 6 computers and 5 operating systems. Every one only required a reboot and the only thing I lost was the results of a few games. But I also do hope OOTP 20 continues to run just as well. Knock on wood.

Same here ... an occasional crash but since I regularly backup my files it's the same as for micropterus58 ...

You might lose a few games, but nothing serious.

Couldn’t disagree with this more. Have been playing OOTP for years and this was by far the best release yet.

Been playing since v4 (2002) buying each new version and importing my ongoing game. I had one crash in v4 that made me restart my first game. The game I play now was started with that game.

Since v4 I have had maybe two crashes between then and v18. In v19 I had 3 of the phantom crashes to desktop while playing out a game following the second patch after PT was added. Had to be an issue on my system as there were only 3 or 4 contributors to the bug thread I joined in on. Since then, between updating drivers on my system and subsequent patch releases, I have not had another crash, nor have there been anymore posts in that thread. So for me that's 5 crashes over 17 versions.

Whatever the OP is experiencing in his\her game I am not seeing with mine and haven't in any of the 17 versions I have owned.

I'm right in the middle.

I thought OOTP19 was excellent. The graphical upgrades, by themselves, were awesome. I'm really excited with the direction of the game. I really hope the developers continue to work the AI and graphics. More bells and whistles should wait until the AI is truly competitive. I can't wait for the day when I don't need house rules to even things out.

However, I did have a ton of crashes, esp. early on. In the months after release, the "bugs report" forum was filled with Mac users having trouble. I still reboot my CPU before every game, because that's seemed to work for me. If I don't reboot, I still get an occasional crash (Mac Air, circa 2013, 11 inch).

Anyways, overall, it was a very good game. I'm certainly a satisfied customer and can't wait for OOTP20

The reboot thing may be a good idea. I mostly play on laptops and I put them in sleep mode. Also I'm wondering if the fact that this league that I play, which is in it's 327th season could be a problem. Did not have this problem in 18 though.

Besides the crashing ( I save weekly so its not a huge deal) 19 is the best OOTP to date.

I found the reboot every few days other than putting into sleep was a huge help for me. Also making sure all drives were updated helped as well.

I crash all the time when at end of year Dec 31 to Jan 1 almanac and it crashes every time now I have it turned off and now works as it crashes or closes 8 times in a row before finally getting by …. been like that the longer my game goes and worse it gets. Occasionally same thing happens when backing up game too

Another thing that I have had to do for the first time in 15 year is run the game as an administrator. If I dont its tells me my licence number is not valid.

I would have to agree with the OP. Literally ALL my saves have ended with the file corrupting. Albeit, I've just purchased the game and have only run 3 saves, but still. My current game, refuses to advance past April 13 2022 for some reason. Just freezes up when i try to finish the day. Love the game, but it is, most likely, the most bug filled game I've played in a while

Quite a few people have reported this exact issue in the tech support forum, looks like it's a bug that was introduced with the latest patch and they are looking into it.

FWIW, I never had a crash and I played 125 seasons or more with 19.

I have never had the game crash on me this year. I think OOTP 15 did this to me quite a bit.

I agree with the OP. I can barely finish one game without a crash. WIN10. Worst stability of any software I own.
