3D view and game sound suddenly out of synch
I just bought OOTP18 before Christmas and already had lots of fun with it.
After toying around with window size during the actual play of a game, the 3D action and the corresponding game sounds (bat making contact with the ball, audience cheering, umpire‘s calls etc.) suddenly went out of synch. I have tried resetting the game settings and viewing settings but to no avail. There is still a significant gap between sound and visual. I even tried a new installation (from Steam) but the problem didn’t go away. This is kind of bothering me. Any idea how to remedy this? Thanks |

if re-installing didn't fix it, it could be related to the OS or hardware.
review windows sound options/settings -- anythign that "reads" like it could relate, look there. make sure drivers are installed (weak possibility that's the cause, but standard check) any sound card utlities / settings app (simiar to your intel/amd/nvidia vid card app suite)? look for offset or anythign similar in verbage. even look at video card settings, since the sound can be routed through there anyway in some situations (like using an hdmi connection that carries vid and sound to tv/monitor with speakers). is it stuttering or having a "hard" time processing the game? if so, make sure your FPS are locked to 60... maybe turn down quality of crowd etc... anti-aliasing is extremely resource intensive too. i'd start with what sounds familar first, then the less likely. what have you changed recently? even if it was slightly before the problem was noticed. may have required a restart etc... and easily forgotten. # of threads used? make sure it doesn't exceen # of physical Cores of your CPU (if your cpu specs say 2 different values, it's the one that is 1/2 the size of the other) Last edited by NoOne; 01-08-2018 at 04:57 PM. |

With sound issues the fix that helps the majority of the time is to install any OS updates and/or update your sound card drivers, restart your system and try again.

Root cause are probably data downloads
Thank you very much for your replies.
The problem described above has apparently nothing to do with resizing the window as I first thought. In recent sessions I have been able to play without any problems, but now and then the problem returned. I noticed then that the graphics were running quite slowly including the generation of text messages on the top of the screen. It appears to me as if there are some considerable data downloads in the background which are slowing the visuals but not the sound. |
