Setting up a 3-team league with historical players
Hey All:
Shawn Anderson, the guy who runs the site Hall of Very Good (we sponsor his podcast and his annual HOVG award) had Jay Mohr, the actor and comedian, on his show, and they and Shawn's co-host Lou came up with their all-time great teams. Shawn approached OOTP CMO Rich Grisham about doing a league based on the teams and simming some 3-game series (maybe a season + playoffs) between them. I know it can be done, but I'm wondering if anyone can suggest the best way to set this up, since this is a bit outside of my comfort zone. Here are the teams, with the years he wants to use for the players. The thinking was to clone the pitchers so the teams have large enough relief staffs. (Unfortunately, expanding the teams and going back to Jay to see who else he would pick isn't possible, since Shawn said it took months to set up the interview.) Shawn would like to see this done ASAP, if possible, so I'm hoping to do this tonight, Sept. 1. Any thoughts on the best way to set this up? Thanks! Very rough idea.
1. Start a new league with 4 teams (fictional) - Commisioner mode 2. Add 3 teams listed above. 3. Import players listed above. 4. Eliminate financials. 5. edit schedule, erasing current one and added your own. Again, very rough, but it can be done. I am sure someone can do this outside of OOTP and create a Quickstart.

I would fill out the staff with a clone of a 1 star pitcher and put him on all teams. clone him repeatedly.

just a thought, but rather than clone pitchers/etc for relief staff, maybe approach it more like the setup you get with an 1871 historical start, where you might only have a few pitchers on your team.... so you'd want to allow starters to be used in relief.... space out the games in the series/season enough where the players get a few days rest at least between each game.
set injuries/suspensions/etc to none, since you only have enough players to field the team with no bench players.... turn off trades.... turn off find free agents/international players/etc so no fictional players pop up during the season.... |

I wrote it up in a blog post, where you can download the Hall of Very Good league as a QuickStart:
