Playing games against teams from different eras
Would like to do one or both of the following.
1) Play a game (or a series) between two teams from two different eras, let's say the 1927 Yankees vs the 1966 Orioles. Is this possible??? 2) Start a league featuring the best teams from each franchise year.... Again, let's say the 1927 Yankees, 70 Orioles, 72 A's, 1967 Cardinals etc..... I just can't seem to figure out how to do this. Thanks much, great game, in the middle of simulating the 2013 season..... |

You can do both of these. In OOTP14 there are several steps, though. There is a thread out there with a step-by-step. Not sure where it is off the top of my head, but will look for it... In OOTP15, my understanding is that #2 is much easier; not sure about #1.

I wish I could figure out how to do something like that also. With all the other things the game can do, I figure there has to be a way to set up a league with teams from different years.

you should be able to find several threads on how to do it, but i will give you a basic quickstep.
1. create a fictional league min amount of teams per league. 2. do all your other options, you can change most if not all later. 3. after league creation go to League Settings - Edit League Structure. 4. Add Historical team. select the Historical database.odb from teh OOTP 15 stats folder located under My documents not under the C: drive which is where mine put me at 1st. 5. enter year, hit refresh teams list, (or just click it unless you want to break your monitor, up to you) select team. 6. select your options 7. repeat til you get all the teams you want. 8. Generate new schedule ( you can import a custom schedule before preseason ends.) any questions? i can provide screenshots if need be.

I'd be interested in this. Does anybody have a link to a thread that explains it?

The first thing - I don't know if individual series or games can be played.
But a league of teams from different eras is really simple: Create either a fictional or a historical league. Either way the things you need to do are make sure you play in "commissioner mode" and second decide what year it is going to be (in other words even if you have the 1927 Yankees, 1995 Braves etc. you still need for them to play in a year with the various settings of that year - 1947, 1956, 2013, 1871 whatever). Once you have started the league, go immediately to the League Menu (ML) and click "League Setup" and then "Edit League Structure". Then click "Add Historical Team". You add the teams from the historical databse.obd which is in your "Stats" folder and then write in the year in the box that opens for adding a team and click "refresh team list" and then pick the team from that season you want to add. Repeat this process to add all your teams. Then delete all the original teams from the league creation. This will make the players that were on them into free agents. You probably want to delete those so go back to ML Menu and click "Free Agents" and then "Delete All Free Agents" and now you should have only your historical all time great teams. |
