It's different in Perfect (although on another team I still have Pesky as my utility guy and he routinely puts up good numbers), but in DiL I wouldn't hesitate to start silver players at multiple different positions. Last edited by Weaseltail; 01-09-2019 at 12:35 PM. |

Tom Tresh (78) has proven rather useful so far. He's relegated to my bench now, but he can hit .300, he can knock 30HR in a full season, and since he's a SS he can easily learn other positions.

On my All Giants team,
*72 Monte Irvin is a very solid hitter until diamond league. *79 Jim Ray Hart is decent D at 3b and LF, and another good hitter until diamond *69 Markakis is my only non-Giant left, simply because he fills in with good D in all OF spots and hits .300 each season as a utility player. On my main team: *77 Tony Fernandez plays great D and has been a .300/.350/.400 guy until P league. *77 Don Mattingly was awesome in B, S, and G leagues. *77 Bill Nicholson is a good hitter, no glove *73 Catfish Hunter lost his SP role in Gold, but has been a good long man out of the pen since then *74 Bader is a 94 defense CF, good swing man, .220 h My goal is to be around .500 with half my lineup silver when competing against all 100 teams Last edited by 5rings; 01-09-2019 at 05:51 PM. |

Adonis Medina is so good as a RP (he's a 53 Stamina "starter"), especially if you put him as a Righty Specialist.
If you haven't seen him, he's got a ridiculous L/R split. Here's his ratings, plus his career so far. The red is the team I got him from, who used him as a starter, then me in green, who used him as Middle Relief the first couple seasons, then this season set him as Righty Specialist / Long Relief, which got him way more innings with the same results. And yet, even with those splits, he's actually been better vs. lefties. Whatever, I'll take that bullpen ERA in Gold. He's going for ~1500, so he's got a premium. Just resist trying to use him as a starter. |

Just finished my 2nd Diamond season today. I checked which batter had the best WAR on my team. I was shocked to see it was Simmons at 3.1 |

Hate to spam about this dude but I'm so happy I gave him a shot... I had Colabello win player of the month in Diamond and he's a 73.

So triston McKenzie (80, I know not silver, but let me finish), just got the era crown in my diamond league. 3.45 I think.
He and Mike soroka (79) consistently out perform 97 scherzer. Unfortunately my bats are hideous and I finished almost 20 games under .500 despite top 5 era and Def. Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk

He probably could still fit in on my team if I had a stretch of games in a row without a day off and needed an additional LR guy.

I had that Suzuki card to start my entry league. He was really solid for me.
in my bronze League, I won the ERA title with Rich Hill. Just his normal 74 card. He had a 2.18 at the end of the season Al Dark 78 (All Star from 54) was my 2nd highest average. Ended up with a 3.9 WAR |

I know a few people have mentioned Dock Ellis so I got him cheap for my 2nd Team’s first season in the Bronze League.
He finished 21-5 with an ERA of 1.97. He totalled 6.4 WAR. He won the MVP and Pitcher of the Year awards and then pitched two complete games in the WS and allowed only 2 runs. One of the runs was in game 7 of the WS where we won 11-1 behind his complete game. I pulled Roy Halliday in my Starter Pack and still went with Dock Ellis for all crucial games. |

I don't think I have seen anyone mention Sad Sam Jones. 72 rated pitcher who pitches far above his rating. He threw two no hitters last season for my F2P team in Silver League and costs around 1,000 PP last time I looked.

And, as an added bonus- you can play matchups in the playoffs. I used Medina (and another future legend with extreme splits whose name escapes me atm) as a starter in my Diamond League playoffs against a 97 win squad who is destined for Perfect League next year. His weakness: 8 RH starter's against RHP. Medina and the other guy (with pitch count limit set to 90) won me games 4 and 5 and dominated....Unfortunately he had 96 Smoltz and 99 Kershaw to close me out in games 6 and 7 -but I never would have forced a Game 7 without him. |

I picked him up for my new team as soon as I found one on the market.

Picked up a Jose Oquendo to serve as a backup infielder.
Solid enough contact hitter, and extremely good 2B defense, which is unfortunately the only defensive rating he comes with despite his reputation for playing all 9 positions. Should translate with time/training though, I blieve. |

1,360 innings at 2B 61 innings at SS 1 inning at 1B 1988 was the year he played all 9 positions. But, some of the innings played at some of them were too low to rate him, most notably Pitcher and Catcher |

Jordan Hicks seems to be a really strong bronze card. His vs RHB splits are pretty incredible.
High movement and stuff. Mid 20s stamina. His control is kind of low though.

Bob Turley is mine. He has dominated bronze leagues for many seasons. He won the pitching triple crown for me the first or second season of PT.
Not so good above bronze though... |
