Your Most Surprising One Year Performance
I love threads on OOTP where guys share cool stories about their game world. Seeing what's unfolding in another players universe is something that's always intrigued me.
So I had an idea for us to share an amazing, unexpected, top of the charts ONE YEAR performance from a guy that you didn't expect to perform so well. My story is from a guy who I've always thought had the potential on the mound to be one of the best, and in 2018 he did just that.
I signed Jarrod Parker prior to the 2017 season, missing the playoffs the previous 3 seasons and desperately needing pitching help. He had a pretty decent year in 2017 in which the Yankees won their 28th World Championship, but it was the 2018 where Parker would really shine. 21 Wins and a CY Young award while leading the Yankees to their 2nd strait World Series title..
(Honorable Mention: Anthony Rizzo - 2017 was a special year for Anthony Rizzo. The left handed, slugging first baseman found a home in The Bronx. His .291 average along with 52 Home Runs and 131 RBIs solidified Rizzo as one of the premier hitters in all of baseball. Just to top it off, he had a .374 OBP, .600 Slugging %, .973 OPS and a WAR above 7. Despite all this, he didn't even finish in the top 3 of MVP voting)
