Double card draw

The odds aren't infinite, but this would seem to indicate there's a problem with the random card generation. At least worthy of an investigation. Standard pack, user keith352, entry pool:

Actually, this proves that card generation is random. If it wasn't, this would have been prevented by the code.

It does seem like an exceedingly unlikely outcome. Odds of getting two Diamonds, a Gold and two Bronze in the same pack should be one in 2,500,000,000 if I'm not mistaken. The odds of getting the same two Diamonds are even lower.

With your luck, you should buy a lottery ticket. Or it may be a problem with the random number generator not having a sufficient source of entropy. If that's the case, it would tend to produce good cards (or bad cards) in batches.

Edit: Well, I got the probabilities wrong (it's been a while...). I used the probabilities for Perfect cards by mistake, and didn't take into account that there are many different ways the cards can be drawn (permutations). When you take those into account, the odds are only about 1 : 100,000. Still unlikely, but not overwhelmingly so.

Interesting idea, but no. Just proves that there's no software check on getting two identical 98's in a pack.

No skin off my nose, I got a really nice chunk of PP's when I auctioned off the extra Lindor. But if I'm responsible for the design of the software, this would be a big honking red flag. As Josquin pointed out, the odds are beyond astronomical.

I also had a double pull. Not a big problem, but is this normal?

Reminds me of getting two Don Mossi's in a pack of Topps...

Starter packs don't have duplicates, standard and gold ones can have.
