Challenge mode account server inop?

I started a new challenge fictional league the other day in order to fiddle around with a new setup --- a couple days in (and after reading the forums) I realized I'd not created an account...thus my achievements were not being tracked....

So today, I went for a new start...only, when I load up the game, all I get is "trying to connect to online services" where I presume the create/login is supposed to be (top right of the OOTP18 start screen).

If I try to start a new league, and select the challenge mode, I get a warning (which I missed on Tuesday) that I'm not logged in etc...

Are the servers down..and if so, any ETA?

Full release has come --- I'm still getting "trying to connect to online services" instead of acct setup/login at the start screen.... still can't tell if this is global or just me...

Okay---something different --- I just installed build 33 and now I get a "could not connect to the online services" instead of a constant "trying to connect"....still don't know for sure if it's something on my end or global (server getting hammered w/ release). I'll keep trying!

I don't think it's global, we have a lot of people who are connected. Try shutting down your anti-virus and making an exception for OOTP in your firewall and see if that helps.

Already set the exception for ootp18.exe in the firewall....I'll try shutting it down completely and trying it...

edit 1:
Nope..both McAfee and Windows Firewall (didn't realize I had Windows firewall active too!) set to allow ootp18.exe

Both shut off.... still cannot connect :-/

edit 2: Just on a lark--- I uninstalled and reinstalled in default directory...didn't help either

edit 3: Just installed on laptop---no problem connecting on this device... :-/

I cannot seem to work out why the laptop will connect, but the desktop won't

Doesn't affect online leagues...just achievement tracking online.
