A couple of questions

So I haven't bought the game, but I'm considering it right now. My first question is if I can make a multiplayer league where I play a team, and my brother and sister-in-law each play a team, but the rest are run by the computer. I assume this is doable, but I wanted to make sure before I bought the game. And how would such a setup be most simply managed? If anyone is familiar with the old freeware Eastside Hockey Manager game, I used to play online leagues where all the teams would e-mail their lineups and instructions to a single commissioner who would input everything and then run the sim for a week. Would this same setup work for OOTP?

My brother was also curious the extent to which the minor leagues are managed. If we run a modern, no frills, MLB league, would we fully manage our minor leagues the same as the major league teams or are the minors less in depth and more used as a holding tank for prospects?

I'll let someone else answer the first question.

As to the minors, you can manage them fully if you wish, they're every bit as in depth as the majors.

Though you can't really actually manage your milb teams in game at the same time as you run an MLB team, you can do everything else. Call up and send down prospects to each milb level, set lineups and rotations, set pitch counts. Really, pretty much anything milb related that a real big league GM could control you can control in OOTP.

i would had, once you get comfortable that you should manage them... i find AI a bit peculiar sometimes with the minors... but i love the minors more than the majors so it may only be me...

I agree.

It's gotten loads better over the last few versions of the game. As of OOTP10 or so the ai was incredibly peculiar with the minors, not to say pretty well entirely incompetent. Now it's just a little bit peculiar at times. That's a great improvement!

Actually, you can.

Check commissioners mode.

Then change simulate world to no in-game on the options tab:

Now you can play whatever games you want individually.

Cool! That's one of the most amazing things about OOTP. No matter how well you think you know the game, there's always some cool feature that you haven't seen yet.

This thread gave me an inspiration. I have only used this for ML teams in the past. But now, thanks to you, I'm going to start doing a "Minor League Game of the Week" from within my organization.

Once a week I will randomly select a level and play out one game of one of my minor league teams. Hmmm... maybe I'll look for an important game during the week that impacts one of my minor league teams.

Cool.

You rule!!

For your first question, see this thread.

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ne-league.html

You could do the email way, but its much more easy to setup a real online league where EACH PERSON owns the game. You mentioned 3 people, and a purchase gives you 2 licenses so you would need to buy the game twice. If you only wanted to buy one copy, you could do it all manually the way you mentioned.

Perhaps somebody with experience in online leagues could elaborate.
