"What if" Time Machine - Round 2

We are wrapping up the first round of the "What if" Time Machine sim. As I have been simming, I have been debating on what to do next. There was some interest in a second round of the sim so I'm going to continue it. I'm actually going to do four rounds!

The first three rounds are going to be set up just like Round 1 - Pick a non-playoff team from history (1946 and up) and then choose 2 players from your team's history (past or future) not currently on the roster to import to your team. After the first three rounds are completed, I am going to take the 24 playoff teams (8 from each round) and put them in a league to determine the grand champion!

So, this thread will be for team/player selection of Round 2. Again, you can choose any team that did not make the playoffs between 1946 and 2013 (1994 is ineligible due to not having playoffs). However, teams and players chosen in Round 1 will not be allowed. For instance, I took the 1992 Twins with 1969 Harmon Killebrew and 2004 Johan Santana. That means that the 1992 Twins are off the board. Also, any person choosing the Twins cannot take Harmon KIllebrew or Johan Santana. BUT, another franchise for which those players played could use them (ie the Mets and Santana).

Here is a list of the teams and players taken in Round 1 that are no longer eligible:

1980 Baltimore Orioles - 83 Cal Ripken - 66 Frank Robinson
2011 Boston Red Sox - 00 Pedro Martinez - 41 Ted Williams
2005 Cleveland Indians - 53 Al Rosen - 72 Gaylord Perry
1969 Detroit Tigers - 87 Alan Trammell - 13 Miguel Cabrera
1979 Kansas City Royals - 89 Bo Jackson - 94 David Cone
1979 Houston Astros - 94 Jeff Bagwell - 97 Craig Biggio
1992 Minnesota Twins - 69 Harmon Killebrew - 2004 Johan Santana
1985 New York Yankees - 99 Mariano Rivera - 58 Whitey Ford
2004 Oakland A's - 32 Jimmie Foxx - 90 Dennis Eckersley
2003 Seattle Mariners - 95 Randy Johnson - 97 Ken Griffey, Jr.
1993 Texas Rangers - 79 Buddy Bell - 74 Ferguson Jenkins
1987 Toronto Blue Jays - 03 Roy Halladay - 93 Roberto Alomar

2007 Atlanta Braves - 59 Hank Aaron - 95 Greg Maddux
1957 Brooklyn Dodgers - 1997 Mike Piazza - 2013 Clayton Kershaw
1969 Chicago Cubs - 29 Rogers Hornsby - 01 Sammy Sosa
1974 Cincinnati Reds - 77 Tom Seaver - 66 Frank Robinson
1997 Colorado Rockies - 10 Ubaldo Jimenez - 11 Troy Tulowitzki
2009 Florida Marlins - 96 Kevin Brown - 96 Gary Shefield
1996 Montreal Expos - 09 Ryan Zimmerman - 82 Steve Rogers
2007 New York Mets - 85 Dwight Gooden - 69 Tom Seaver
2006 Philadelphia Phillies - 72 Steve Carlton - 74 Mike Schmidt
1977 Pittsburgh Pirates - 66 Roberto Clemente - 08 Honus Wagner
2001 St. Louis Cardinals - 85 Ozzie Smith - 85 John Tudor

Actually going to allow teams from 1946 (post WWII) through 2013 (sans 1994). Just changing it from 1950 to 1946.

Bucky Bleeping Dent no more - I'm going with the '78 Red Sox this time around.

Adding '99 Nomar and '86 Clemens.

1981 Reds
Noodles Hahn 1901 - He's been a beast in any sim I have ever done, in any era, neutralized or real stats
1961 Vada Pinson, great yr, could have been a great player still was very good and under rated / unrecognized for the most part

1979 Cardinals: 1968 Bob Gibson & 2005 Albert Pujols...just don't put him at 1B. Hernandez has that covered pretty well already!

I obviously screwed up choosing the 1985 Yankees. Time to break out the pinstriped ICBMs and end this once and for all.

1954 Yankees: Probably the best 2nd place team in history (103-51)

1927: Babe Ruth
1930: Lou Gehrig

The Babe, Mick and Iron Horse all in the same lineup...lights out.

Steve Bartman will sleep easy tonite.

2003 Chicago Cubs
1992 Greg Maddux
1958 Ernie Banks

EDIT
Sorry, misread. Thought it was non world series winner, not non-playoff winner.

Make it the 2001 Cubs. Same players. Bartman lives in infamy

Glad someone else did the Tigers this time, seeing that I picked a last place finisher in round 1

The 2001 Cardinals (picked in round 1) made the playoffs - they lost to the eventual champion D'Backs in the NLDS. You'd have to pick the '99 team or the '03 team if you want a Cardinal team from that period.

I thought about that team too being from DFW. Wasn't sure about their pitching though. I was also going to use Hamilton.
