Quick question

If you lower your scouting budget from $18m to $4m, or something like that, is that likely to make your scouting director not want to work for you anymore, when it comes time to extend him?

If yes, that is awesome.

Since I use 100% scouting in my league I tend to edit every teams scouting budget to 0 to free up FA $$. I have had no problem resigning any scout in the last 17 seasons.

If you were to gut your scouting budget that savagely, it probably wouldn't matter if he re-upped his contract or not.

Like the Finley A's, with a teenaged MC Hammer as one of the senior front office employees...

Yeah, I had to in order to ramp things up on the major league side. I'd run 18m scouting/27m PD for 2 years, then went on a spending binge in FA the next 2 years, combined with my prospects to post back to back 97+ win seasons (sadly two first round exits).

I did have to slash heavily from S&PD, from a combined 45m to a combined 10m. Small market and all that.
