Defense and baserunning in scouting reports
I'll post this here because it's no specific to any version of the game. Hopefully someone will venture out of the OOTP21 forum and see it.
Why aren't defense and base running included in the scouting reports? There's sometimes something in the blurb, no numbers. I've known this, and, grudgingly, accepted it. But, I'm posting about it now because: I was looking at a SS I've been interested in acquiring. During the last season he went from 45/60 to 65/70 to 55/65 to 50/55. So, I was wondering what that was about. The only thing that I can see is that his eye rating went from 50 to 45. At the same time that his overall and potential went from 45/60 to 65/70. Obviously, the decrease in his ability to draw a walk wasn't the driver for his overall increase. Then, hilariously, his eye rating improved from 45 back to 50 at the same time that he went from 55/60 yo 50/55. No other changes were reported. Ok, so his offense didn't really change. So, we must assume that his defense and/or baserunning accounted for the changes. But defense (ok, overall defense is, but not the components. Even if we know a player's defense changed, we don't know if that was due to range, arm, error or double play ability) and baserunning isn't tracked any where It's not in the development report(s) It's not on the graphs It's not in the scouting history There's no way, to my knowledge, to track the changes in a player's defense and baserunning. And that really doesn't make any sense. |
