Contract Offer Text Error
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...1&d=1153416632
The number of the last year is missing for the part of the sentence that refers to the option year. There should be a "5" in there, for this particular example. |

The player is looking for a 5-year contract worth a total of $116,220,000, which equals $23,244,000 per season. You have offered 28-year old right fielder Timoteo Virula the following major league contract: The contract runs over 4 guaranteed years, the 2014, season is a team option year. The total guaranteed value of the contract is $82,000,000, which equals a value of $20,500,000 per season. Through incentives and options, however, the deal could be worth a total of $102,000,000, which equals a value of $20,400,000 per season. ---JT, question for you: What do you mean by "the number of the last year is missing"? Are you saying that "2014" should in fact be "2015"? Or does the problem run deeper than that? This text is embedded in the game code, and as such can't be fixed in the text database (which turns into the XML file). If you can be more precise about where the error is, I can post this in TestTrack and get it looked at. |

Oh! I completely misread it. A grammatical error - the comma after 2014 - threw me off. If you start reading after that comma, as I did when skimming that paragraph, it appears like a number should come after the word "season" (e.g. - season 5). Actually, that comma should simply be removed, and the "the" before 2014 should be capitalized as it is actually the beginning of a new sentence.
In the end, I believe it should read like this (and I really hope I have my grammar right here, otherwise, I come off looking like a jerk, don't I?): You have offered 28-year old right fielder Timoteo Virula the following major league contract: The contract runs over 4 guaranteed years. The 2014 season is a team option year. The total guaranteed value of the contract is $82,000,000, which equals a value of $20,500,000 per season. Through incentives and options, however, the deal could be worth a total of $102,000,000, which equals a value of $20,400,000 per season. Sorry for the confusion there. Hope that clears it up. |

Your fixes are right on. Logged this as TT #2397.
Keep a sharp eye out for more of this stuff! Errors in hard-coded text are tough to track down, because (obviously) we don't see them until they crop up in the game. |
