Wow! 100,000 historical minor leaguers.

I'm eager to see how such minor league legends like Joe Bauman and Jigger Statz play out statistically in a minor league sim.

How does this work with a historical major league?
Do you have the player imported in both leagues or does he import into the minors first and then goes to the Majors. Or are they totally separate?

They're all together. Basically it works exactly the same as the MLB quickstart does or a fictional league that includes minors.

The players either import to the draft or directly to the minor league system of the first team they played for, depending on your settings. Then they progress through the minors to the majors. Or don't progress, as the case may be.

I have to wonder how many of that total are duplicates. Determining, for example, that the John Smith who played in D ball in 1934 is the same John Smith who played A ball in 1937 or if it is a different person. That would require A LOT of biographical research to sort out, given the sheer number of players who have appeared in the minors...

Probably a work in progress. Heck I still have trouble differentiating between both Hal Smiths from the 50's era........

I remember when SABR was embarking on its minor league project, and there was discussion about the difficulties involved in trying to sort all those player statistical lines from various TSN and other annual baseball guides into discrete persons. To call such an effort monumental would be an understatement.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Regarding Buzz Arlett, he did play in the majors (as Wolf points out) but including his minor league stats leads to a more realistic career path.

How might Brien Taylor play out? Will he be a buist as he was IRL or might he become the superstar he might have been?

Also want to see this guy in the game. He went to school with my dad.

I'm curious about this as well. So much wasted potential.

I hope it's not too realistic. I don't feel like downloading Prison Tycoon to find out how the rest of Taylor's career will pan out.

I feel like I'm going to end up spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to create a world where this guy turns into a star.

Being a Mariners fan I never got to see Ryan "The Little Unit" Anderson pan out. Baseball America top prospect from 1998-2002 derailed by injuries. Can't wait to see what he can do.
