Lack of offense
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I cannot get any offense going with this game. Now I know I'm playing with the Royals but still. We have played 10 games and put up the following numbers:
Game 1: 4 runs, 8 hits Game 2: 3 runs, 7 hits Game 3: 1 run, 6 hits Game 4: 7 runs, 9 hits Game 5: 1 run, 8 hits Game 6: 1 run, 6 hits Game 7: 0 runs, 4 hits Game 8: 1 run, 5 hits Game 9: 4 runs, 9 hits Game 10: 3 runs, 6 hits It seems that unless I am using Hit and Run just about every time a runner reaches base, we rarely get base hits. We are 15th in the American League in runs scored (25), 13th in average (.216), 13th in on-base percentage (.287) and 15th in HRs (1). Maybe it is a small sample size but it just seems that this team is just an out machine. |

Take the last season I completed. I've never started so hot and stayed hot for so long. Dominated the league from opening day to the beginning of August. Was contemplating all of the call-ups that were going to get huge playing time come September as I was a cinch to clinch both the division and home field advantage by Sept 1. Long story short, I clinched the division on Oct. 3rd. Yeah the last day of the season and did not have even get home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Can't even blame it on injuries, they were not the reason we went south. Keep in mind if you are using hit and run a lot you are not allowing your player to select the pitch he wants but forcing him to swing at whatever comes. Could be adding to your problem and not helping? |

Real life Royals are 15th in the AL in OPS and have hit 14 (14!) less homers than the 14th placed AL team in HR so you're not doing too badly.

You have a small sample size, and a bad offensive team. Even the greatest chef can only make so good a meal with bad ingredients.

My team
Game 1: 0 runs 5 hits Game 2: 5 runs 9 hits Game 3: 1 run 3 hits Game 4: 2 runs 6 hits Game 5: 6 runs 13 hits Game 6: 1 run 8 hits Game 7: 0 runs 8 hits I feel your pain.... Out of the first 50 games, if my counting is correct, we've scored 3 runs or less 27 times! The only difference is that is my real-life Braves sigh. Joking aside....I agree with the others....give it a couple of months...get a feel for what you feel is dragging you down the most offensively...and if you can find a deal in June or so...try to improve your lineup. In real life and in the game...how something looks like in April and May is often a illusion and how things really are play out by seasons end. |
