Amazingly, when Pearl was fired from UThug for NCAA violations there was a huge group of fans who wanted to lynch the AD for letting him go.

More than some. As I've said before, the NCAA wants the athlete to be like every other student by making rules no other student has to follow. That's like the ASPCA preventing dogs from being harmed by shooting them.

In defense of Pearl, the NCAA violations he committed while at UThug were slap on the wrist material (he had two recruits at his house for a barbecue during the dead period). However, instead of owning up to them, he lied to the NCAA investigators twice. That turned a molehill into a mountain.
