An on/off switch is what we all need.

Q'dog, if you are reading this, you said "re-import the names and ethnicities database from the available action menu on the database tab of league setup" with a blank nick_names.txt file in place to prevent future nicknames. As you know, this feature has always been buggy but you said MH fixed it recently. What I am doubting is whether this process reimports anything concerning nicknames. When I ran it, I noticed the game uploading only first names and last names. Any thoughts?

I started out with blank nicknames, and all was good. Then I added a league from a template, which brought in nicknames. Now I can't get rid of them.

Oh well, here's making lemonade out of lemons: I'll be "interviewing" each draft class from now on, getting to know each of them better! And, once in a while I will be heard mumbling, "No, no, no. Thou shalt not be known as 'Tired' Morgan. And you, Gus, you're 5' 9" is says here and they call you "Too Tall"? Nope, don't think so. Fred, I may let you keep "Speedy" with a baserunning rating of 2 only if it's supposed to be satirical! . . . "

Every patch overwrites the .txt files such as first names, last names, nicknames and injuries. You have to 'redo' the process. I named Quest dog files and my injury files something different, then when I get a patch...I copy the Quest dog files to my desktop, change the names to first_names.txt and overwrite the default again, then reimport just to be safe That's why you are getting nicknames, I believe.

Another reminder regarding nicknames - those that correspond to a part of the player's actual name ("Harry the Hat", "Big Z" are two that come to mind) should only be given to players who have that in their names (i.e. guys named Harry and guys whose last names start with Z).
