Agreed, never said it was

we already have the pig... why not put lipstick on it?

I think the whole graphics debate was not seeing the same picture (pardon the pun).

Graphics to enhance game play? I would say yes, that deters from the development of the game.

Graphics to enhance replay? That does not deter from the development of the game. OOTP already had the replay ability... just add graphics.

OOTP players don't want to physically control the players to alter plays - they just want to relax and watch the play happen on its own.

We've had the worlds greatest baseball script for years now... why not finally put on the big screen? But other games have failed doing this - but NOT because of adding graphics ruined the game... it was because the lure of fame and lights (and consoles) pulled the game writers away from their core base chasing the console dreams - only to crash and burn (High Heat, MVP, etc).

I don't think Markus or any of the gang who bring us the great game will be lured by the fame and [not-so] fortune of consoles.

Some people are extremist, and the minute graphics are mentioned go to the arcade route. Someone brought up NFL head coach, which is a great example as that had graphics but still was a text sim underneath. Wish we had another one for PC.
I thought MVP baseball was built from the ground up to be arcade? I could be wrong but I do think it was.

MVP was a great game that had both arcade and sim...but went the wayward way of focusing too much on arcade.

Microsoft 3D baseball was another awesome game that had high end graphics (for its time) and a sim engine that ultimately incorporated Baseball Mogul into its sim management... but Microsoft eventually ditched the game.

This is a screenshot of Microsoft's baseball game - not to focus on type of graphics - just to reminisce about a game that was waaay before its time

But yes, Microsoft's 3D baseball and MVP were orig built with both graphics and sim capabilities and both offered arcade style play as well as a sim option.

I remember that game. On field play wasn't the greatest but its stat engine was. I also remember front page sports series which was an awesome combo of Sim and action.
