Catcher rating influence on pitching performance?

Does a high or low catcher rating have any affect on pitching performance in OOTP? I would think if there is any it would *very* minimal..just curious.

Didn't someone try and track this in real life a while back, if I recall it was not very successful?

Catcher Ability
Catcher Ability is a measure of a catcher's overall catching skill. Catcher Ability isn't truly a distinct rating. It is more of a composite number based on a combination of the player's defensive skills (arm, error, range) and his experience at the position.

With that said there is a long-standing belief within the community that there is. Many times these beliefs are based upon some thread or discussion about the topic. Although, I don't remember a specific thread about this issue I'm pretty sure that framing pitches is modeled to an extent.

Anyone with anything more definitive?

I thought pitch framing was part of the catchers ability.

The idea of catchers' framing skills affecting pitching performance was added back in OOTP 13.

So yes, a high catcher rating will help make your pitchers better.

I really wish OOTP Dev would jump on the wiki bandwagon. It works so well for the Paradox games.

I'm almost positive catcher ratings affect pitching performance. In one of my leagues Earl Williams (1971 NL ROY) was my catcher, his rating at catcher was 13 out of 100. My backup was Jarrod Saltalamacchia, whose rating was something like 45 out of 100, and when I started him (which was quite often) my staff's ERA was over a half a run lower than when I started Williams.
