Free Agency: Negotiation updates same day as signings
Have other people run into instances where free agents are giving teams updates on their negotiation the same day they are signing elsewhere? Have run into this with a couple free agents. Offers from both teams are well within the same ballpark, yet a player is telling Team X to up their offer at the same time the player signs with Team Y.
Is this a common occurrence or perhaps a bug? Thanks |

Yes in online leagues. Perhaps in online leagues, the email is sent at the beginning of the day. Then the free agent signs at the end of the day (both occurring with the same date). Sims were 7 days in most online leagues, so I would not have a chance to respond to the email unless the offer happened to be sent at the beginning of the day when the sim ends.
Hasn't happened to me yet in a solo league. |

When I do free agency negotiations in online leagues, I usually lead with the max contract I am willing to offer the player. If that's not good enough, I would have let the player sign with another team anyway. If he does sign, it might have been more than if I would have negotiated day by day. But I take a measured risk because with 7 day sims in online leagues, there's no way to save a little money haggling, without losing a big fish on the hook all together.
What I do, is figure out which player(s) I absolutely want for sure, and then offer them the max I'm willing to pay, right up front. If I have lesser players I'm interested in, I might low ball them a little bit and hope to get lucky. All the other guys in an online league are up against the same challenge. So I think it all works out in the long run. p.s. Don't tell any of the guys I play with in an online league, might give them a competitive advantage. Lol |

Why should it being an online league matter? Shouldn't the player's decision take place at the same point of the day regardless of what type of league it is?
