Max Scherzer's contract
Is it still ridiculous in ootp 17 where he is paid $42 mil a year for the last few years of his contract? I know that this game can't handle deferred money, but it would be better if these contracts used the average yearly amount instead of going from $21 to $42 mil. This is a huge handicap for Nationals owners trying to juggle the team budget after his contract skyrockets.

But that's the point of the game. Juggle all these things and still have enough talent to win a championship.

And AAV wouldn't be an accurate assessment of his contract because he still has the leftover money.

Can't you play as commissioner and change it yourself to make it what it is yearly for the Nats? It's what I plan to do with Chris Davis and spread the money out over his deal rather then take the hit later in the deal. |

You could edit Scherzer's contract and give him a 7-year "extension" for 15m a year and then when he finishes his 7th year and is about to begin that "extension," release him and then it's like deferred money.

What I really want to know is if the Mets will have Bobby Bonilla's salary on their books this year!

I think trying to balance the budget with his contract is what makes the game fun. in OOTP 16, I dealt him at the deadline in 2017 when he was having a record setting year and I was suffering from injury problems with chances of the playoffs dwindling quickly. I hated doing it, but it also freed up money for me to sign Harper and Rendon to long term extensions.

I think it's due to come off the books in 2137
