Position Change
is it possible to change add a position to a player and actually have them become a decent grade at that position? I have way too many outfielders in my farm and no 1st Baseman...Anyone have any thoughts or recent examples on how it works? This is an online league.
Thanks! |

If I recall correctly from another thread (perhaps for the laptop version of the game), changing the position to 1B would not by itself be enough -- you have to have the player actually play first base for some (unknown to me) number of games. This won't matter for players in the minors, of course.
The plaer you try to change might not play well, of course, unless his infield ratings are good -- things like infield range, arm, error rate, etc. If I were you, I'd play close attention to this when selecting an outfielder to turn into a firstbaseman. What I do not know, but hope to learn from someone's answer to your question, is whether a player with no rating at a position can improve from that implicit 0 to a better rating, or if the player has to start off with at least a one. My guess would be the former. You ask an interesting question. I wonder too if changing a MR with lots of stamina but only two pitches might eventuate in his learning as third pitch. Yes a player can start at 0 for any position and increase to the best of his ability. This is judged by the position and the required skills for that position. For example a guy with 10/100 for infield range will never be a very good SS, but if his arm is say 80/100 he could possibly grow from 0/100 at 3B to may 80/100 (I don't know the exact overall).
