piching staff plan
I was thinking about and playing with the idea of going to a 4 man rotation with pitch counts of 65 they seem to get about 3 to 4 innngs per start and then keep an extra starter and long man around pitching stats seem to be improving a bit and they seem rested and ready to pitch their next turn

So:
Case 1: 4 starters who each start 40 games per year and pitch ~560 (4 x 40 x 3.5) innings Case 2: 5 starters who each start 32 games per year each and pitch ~880 (5 x 32 x 5.5) innings Case 1 pushes an extra 320 innings into the bullpen. In the first case, 8 other pitchers need to make up 880 innings, while in the second case 7 other pitchers need to make up 560 innings. Assuming one has 4 quality relievers, (4 x 75 IP), that leaves 4 pitchers for 580 innings in Case 1; and, 3 pitchers for 260 innings in Case 2. In Case 1, the 4 "relievers" are pitching, on average, more than the 4 starters. What am I missing? Last edited by Drstrangelove; 06-02-2018 at 08:40 PM. |

If you are considering something like this, you should think about having a couple of openers to pitch the first inning for the weaker starters.
