Managing/GM
I used to love the aspect of managing my team. Strategies, pitching rotations, knowing when to pull a pitcher, knowing when to send a runner or even a play at home by testing the center fielders arm but with OOTP somehow I lost interest and it became tedious....I'm just not sure what happened, any suggestions on how I can spice up it up while managing a game?

Become a GM only instead
Sorry - I had that problem too. I've never found a way around it as a manager only.
Instead I subscribed to the Steinbrenner model of managing... "Why be down there being second guessed every night, instead of coming up here and being one of the second guessers"??? As GM only I've had 4-5 (real) years of playing trying to create the "perfect" team and farm system. I've NEVER come close and been fired more often than I care to admit. I must say though I fail "better" now, I use both OSA and my scouts to judge draft picks and free agents, I've learned to anticipate the minors so well, that now I entrust the AI Asst GM to TRUELY screw up my minors, so I have to deal with that challenge too. (Imagine your Asst. GM releasing your 47/65 third year 1st round pick JUST ahead of your plan to promote him to the Show?.. then you know frustration!!!) Plus I watch a LOT of my teams games and its fun to see my plans come to fruition, or fire the manager for ruining my plan too...lol |
