How much do you actually "play" in historicals?

I always struggle to find a good pace or happy medium when playing historicals...mainly because I am OCD and always want to control my bullpens.

Are the majority of you just god-mode simmers in historicals or do some of you "play" teams...and if u do play, what is your system to maintain the pace of your league?

Thanks everyone!!

I generally will sim to 5th or 6th, dependent on time of yr , where I am at in standings, etc). Then depending on score of that game maybe (1/2 inning but say until RISP) for innings where pitching, 1 pitch mode when hitting. I will then switch to sim (generally 1 pitch) per batter for pitch/bat if game is close and I am in a playoff race.

In general I determine how much I sim/play dependent on time of yr, game situation, team record, etc

Thanks, Mark! I've got to admit, that is one way that I have never really tried. I'm trying to get away from feeling like I need to "play out" every single game. What I generally do in most of my leagues is I "manage" every game, but all I do in the games are the baserunning options (when they ask if you want to tag up or stretch a hit, not base stealing, obviously) and the substitutions so I control the bullpen and the pinch hitters/defensive subs.

I toyed around with an idea to play out all of my #1 starters game in this fashion and then sim out the rest... I just honestly hate how the engine will handle the bullpens in some cases and I wind up playing far more than I should if I want to keep a pace.

I am starting a historical random debut league to go alongside my dynasty report where I play all of my games out, and I want to keep a pace for that story, so I definitely value all the thoughts and ways people play to figure out what is best for me. These two leagues are going to be the only leagues I play for a very long time, so I want to have everything well planned out.

Thanks so much for your input!
