what offense/defense tactics you play?

Hello guys,

as someone who likes to watch NHL games but has pretty much no idea about in-depth tactics, I wonder what tactics are you using for your team, eventually how often are you changing it? i noticed when I play against AI back-to-back matches they often have different tactics in each match, is it something I should do? it's hard to determine what team is good in what aspect since there is nothing like comparison of teams strenghts and weaknesses and I really don't remember all players from all teams, usually only the biggest stars.
I manage Flyers, currently playing Puck control as Offense and 2-3 system as Defense, I tried couple of more tactics but now I have streak of 7 losses in row and I am becoming desperate..
I usually ask assistant to manage lines and then I do 2-3 changes max.

I would appreciate any tip/help/advise if possible, thank you!!

I haven't really seen the AI change system tactics from game to game, but I haven't been looking out for it either. I'm experimenting with Puck Control/Neutral Zone Trap for 5 on 5, Spread for the Power Play, & Box for the Penalty Kill. It's probably a bad habit but I tend to leave player tactical roles alone once they are set, but I'll make liberal use of the global tactics, especially with regards to tempo and shot targeting. Keep in mind that if you don't have the right players for the system you want, it will fail no matter what it changes to. My understanding is that it is something you don't want to change too much due to the familiarity mechanics.

I like puck control because possession is one of the better indicators of success and the trap is a pretty conservative system that nixes offenses from even being set up. If I wanted to be more aggressive I might shift to something like half ice overload for defense to force turnovers and really dominate possession.
