Exclamation I need some help in picking teams...

I could use some help in selecting the teams for my league. I would like to pick the best team of each franchise throughout Baseball history. I know that this will be somewhat subjective and I am ok with that. Teams do not have to be playoff or world series winners either. The 2001 Mariners are the best team they ever fielded according to the 116 wins but were they really better than the Ken Griffey led teams that included Randy Johnson, Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner, and Alex Rodriguez in the late 90's?

So please all of you baseball fans let me know which team you think is the best of your favorite franchise, and you can pick more than one franchise.

Remember this is not franchise teams made up of the best players but the single best team that the franchise fielded throughout its history.

Thanks!

For my Red Sox, despite the 3 World Series titles the past 10 years, I go with the team that collapsed in '78. Rice, Lynn, Evans, Yaz, Fisk, Hobson, Burleson, Remy and Scott in the lineup.... Eck, Torrez, Tiant starting and Campbell closing. Truely believe they would've won it all if they hadn't collapsed in September. And of course that Dent guy's popup homerun!

My 2 cents!

I am partial to the 1929 cubs, having written the book about that world series team led by charlie root. And the 1976 reds that i grew up with.

I am going with the 1916 Philadelphia Phillies
They had powerl, pitching and defense.

The 70's Phillies get all the press, but overall I think the '16 team was better

I think the 1930 Philadelphia Athletics was a tremendous team. I also really like the 1926 Cardinals.

Obvious picks: 1969-1971 Orioles, 1906 Cubs, 1939 Yankees (or maybe 1998 or 1927. Lots of Yankee teams to choose from), 1929-31 Athletics, 1975 Big Red Machine, a 1990s Braves team with Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz, 1954 Cleveland, 1924 Senators, 1986 Mets.

I would opt for the 1977 Royals and the 2011 Rangers. I also like the 1954 Indians and the 2001 Diamondbacks.

Here's my list, determined by winning percentage against the "first division":

AL East: 1936 Yankees, 1946 Red Sox, 1969 Orioles, 1986 Blue Jays, 2010 Rays
AL Central: 1995 Indians, 1917 White Sox, 1934 Tigers, 1930 Senators, 1989 Royals
AL West: 2001 Mariners, 1910 (Philadelphia) Athletics, 2008 Angels, 1986 Astros, 1999 Rangers
NL East: 1958 (Milwaukee) Braves, 1988 Mets, 2010 Phillies, 1997 Marlins, 2012 Nationals
NL Central: 1906 Cubs, 1902 Pirates, 1946 Cardinals, 1940 Reds, 1982 Brewers
NL West: 1913 (New York) Giants, 1951 (Brooklyn) Dodgers, 2007 Rockies, 1998 Padres, 2002 Diamondbacks

Notes:
  • The strongest team is the 1906 Cubs. The weakest team is the 2012 Nationals.
The NL Central is by far the strongest division, containing two strong early 1900s teams and two other top-10 teams.
The NL West is the weakest division, with their strongest team being the 101-51 1913 Giants and containing three of the four weakest teams.
The strongest team that didn't make the cut is the 1942 Cardinals. The strongest non-WW2 team that didn't make the cut is the 1932 Yankees.

If teams must be in their current city to be eligible, the teams that have since relocated are replaced with the 1988 Athletics, 1999 Braves, 1991 Dodgers, 1962 Giants, and 1970 Twins.
If strike-year teams are eligible, the 1994 Royals and 1994 Expos make it in.
If the Expos and Nationals are separate, the 1996 Expos make it in.

As a Sox fan I agree with Bwburke 1917 is the team to go with. For the Cubs while 1906 has the most wins ever for a NL team i would go with 1932 or 1945. 1906 only had 23 players that played while 32 & 45 had 27 & 37. After doing both the Cubs & Sox team history leagues both 1906 teams dont have enough depth to compete with modern teams and modern settings.

Use screen shots and manage attachments. There is another program you can use but drawing a blank on its name today, look at some of the dynasty reports, like mine.

Download the Snipping Tool. It saves you a few steps as when you use it you are already cropping your image and saving almost at the same time.

Does it work with Windows 8?

I have to agree, with the caveat that I am a huge Tigers fan (hence the handle). The 2014 team is definitely loaded this season, but they haven't proven anything as of yet. My biased opinion is of course the 1984 Tigers but honestly I'd have to say the '68 Tigers represent the best team that ever took the field for Detroit in my opinion. If you could do an all time player list it would probably look like this:

C-Lance Parrish (again, I'm a bit biased here, he was my favorite player )
1B-Hank Greenberg
2B-Lou Whitaker
SS-Alan Trammel
3B-Miguel Cabrrera (Hank would have to be on the team so Miggy could cover 3rd)
LF-Willie Horton
CF-Ty Cobb
RF-Al Kaline
SP-Denny McLane (Even though he is a jerk, he was a great pitcher)
SP-Jack Morris
SP-Jason Verlander
SP-Hal Newhouser
RP-Willie Hernandez
