Minor League Rosters

It is 1920 and my Pirates were assigned their first minor league team. They are in the Texas League with affiliates of Cardinals and Tigers and some unaffiliated teams. I see the Cards and Tigers both trimmed their minor league rosters to the required 20 man roster. As we were using reserve rosters until I got my team I now have an abundant (70) players for the 20 spot minor league team. But when I started my season, I was never prompted to release anyone and my minor league team has started with 70 players and it says 70/20.

Is this because minors don't have a hard and fast roster limit? Thanks in advance.

Usually minor leagues have a limit but some leagues do not. 70/20 means 50 players may get released shortly so if you want to keep them you may need to up that leagues roster size to 70.

Interesting. The season has started and my minor league team is carrying the 70 man roster with no issue. I bet if I let minor league managers take control of roster moves they would just release 50 dudes but for now my minor league team is bringing 70 guys to the table. Not sure there is enough room in the dugout for all those chaps.
