Unilaterally make hitting worse?
I'm replaying a season on all THE most rigid historical accuracy settings, because what I want is for a season that plays out nearly identical to the original. But the hitting stats are kind of out of control: Dwight Evans has 171 RBIs in a season when he normally would have only had about 100. And Bobby Grich has 51 home runs.
I'm wondering if there's any way to universally/unilaterally make hitting a bit worse? I want the small-ball/defensive feel of the 80s, and instead I'm getting a lot of seasons where Pedro Guerrero is nearing 60 home runs. It's the 1981 season, and part of the issue is that I've changed the schedule to 162 games, so that might be part of the problem. But if there's a simple solution please help! (I realize this is kind of perverse; I'm trying to recreate scenarios with only *slight* differences so, for instance, we could have what would happen if in the '82 season the Orioles had beaten the Brewers on the last day of the season, or the Expos had won the '81 pennant, etc.) |

I've been looking at the league totals, and maybe the answer is just changing those. If there's any please to find suggestions about how to fix these, I'd be greatful!

So the moral of the story is, I think for most accurate results for single season replay, you must turn trades off.check AI cannot make roster changes for each team, and when setting up your season use player ratings for single season replay . and you should be good to go.

Thanks! I'll be trying this. I went into League Totals and put in 1981 for the "Totals from Year" and I think this changed things. Nobody hit more than 45 home runs, no huge stats. I think I have reply set up for no trades/roster changes, though it does make the trades that were historical, but I've never fooled around too much with this.

I know this is picky, but I do wish there were some ways win totals would be similar to the regular season. The Astros winning 105 games or whatever is kind of crazy, when the most a team won between '77 and '85 was the Tigers with 104 (and most years the league wouldn't even have a 100 win team). If anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them. I know I want a very specific kind of game, essentially like the '94 replay season which starts midway through, and that's not what a lot of people want with OOTP.
