I don't think I'll ever be perfectly happy until promotion and relegation are automated by the game. But I'm happy enough to do it manually for now.

If it were me and an unlimited pile of money... an OOTP for every sport, and have them all linked together with school recognition, combined market effects, multisport players...

For starters, I'd like to receive at least one trade offer that made sense.

These are dreams, not suggestions. They'd either be way too much to ask or other people would hate them, or both.
1) Video-game level graphics, a baseball Madden graphics-wise, though without joystick controls and instead keeping statistical accuracy. It would look very close to watching the game on TV. I wonder if several years from now we'll actually be close to that. 2) Also coming with that, commentators provide audio commentary that added to the immersion of it seeming to be watching it on TV. 3) An additional part of the package would be a lot more pitches (one of the few things that Baseball Mogul has that OOTP could use), arm angles (even fielders having arm angles for how they throw), to make the immersion even more. I'd like more pitches anyway, but it would be a much higher priority if we were actually watching the pitches come in. 4) An in-game editor to edit the facegens. I've learned to make my own with the facegen editor someone posted about, mostly from photos but for a few totally fictional players I've bothered to use those programs to create faces. I'd want to do that even more often if I could watch the players "in action," and it could be made easier from within the game. 5) The park dimensions directly affecting the game. I got a custom fictional 3-D park generously made for me by Silvan. Since the park is long down the lines and short to center, the corner OFers should matter more and the CF less (compared to real life), and guarding the lines should be a better strategy. I know enough not to expect that, but this thread is for dreams. The variation I think might actually happen is that at least the dimensions can be made to influence where an event happens, so extra base hits to the corners (in the park I speak of) could be more likely and less likely to CF, while there could be fewer HR's down the lines and more to CF, even though the same number of each event would occur (only modified by the area where ballpark effects are listed). 6) When creating a fictional player, a button to create stats leading up to where the player is. For example, I use the facegens to put real people in the game. If I make someone 24 to start, it could do a calculation backwards through the talent creator to where the player would have been at 18, 19, etc. (with some randomness based on TCR) to generate HS/college/minor league stats, even major league if he has major league experience. It could be done with a whole league, for if one wanted to start a fictional league and not have to run some seasons to build stats before playing. This, I'm sure the devs could actually make happen, but it would likely be too much work that could be used elsewhere. 7) Allow female players, even though I don't think any women can play pro baseball well enough for it to be possible in real life (except against each other, and someone has a text mod for an all-female league). I have some real females I did facegens for and they have the name of the real woman they're based on...but of course all male pronouns. This is not a request, as I'm certain fixing the pronouns would be much more work than it's worth. It's just a dream. 8) A far more extensive personality system. Someone listed a trait-based system some months back. Players would make friends/enemies with each other based on traits among other things (even if #7 also came to pass, it would go no further than friends; I wouldn't want to see romance in the game). Several of us posted positively on the topic, though I'm sure there will never be that extensive of a personality system. Yes, it becomes kind of The Baseball Sims then, but I like The Sims so for me that's a good thing...again, as a dream as opposed to actually saying they should put the time in. I do think, though (in a true suggestion) that the personality system should be deepened at least some, most clearly that winning shouldn't pretty much guarantee a happy clubhouse and losing almost as certainly guaranteeing an unhappy one. There actually should be players with low Desire For Winner happy on a given losing team because they like the manager, other players, their role, etc., and players on winning teams that are unhappy for similar reasons. Occasionally one hears of a very successful team with a tense clubhouse. I never encounter that in OOTP. 9) Many more news story templates, etc., so we almost never see one more than once. They should all be influenced by personalities, to whatever extent we have them. I know some are, but in my dreams everything would be a little different based on personalities. Those are enough dreams for now.... |

random thoughts:
MLB The Show like gameplay & graphics with OOTP engine. More detail to 3D stadiums to avoid floating in space feel. Out of game editor similar to the one from High Heat by DangerZ. Ability to edit history Women Ability to import career minor leaguers Negro league baseball from 1920. Better pre 1900 baseball. If you start a historical league in 1871, the teams are not accurate and many teams are imported in 1882. like the White Sox. Custom jerseys added to home & away. Be able to set the days you want to use them MGR HOF MGR/GM/Coaches hirings in news Have the Cubs suck no matter how stacked their lineup is.

Many think that adding graphics means to make it a video game- but I think a vast majority of future buyers would want some graphic element to the game. Just to either watch out games....or maybe to start, just some replays. Home runs, late inning runs, big strikeouts, milestones. To see your player, in the facegen, with your uniform, showing the game winning hit- what an addition. I say this because I rarely play out any game. 4-5 years ago I did, even tried the new 3-d engine, but still find it uninteresting. We are in 2016 now, So I just sim along chunks of years at a time, day by day in the playoffs. The management stuff is really good, the baseball sim element is really good. The historical element is getting finally the boosts it needs to make it a much more exciting experience. In a few years to be able to play out real, historical, fictional worlds in a game by game mode with excellent graphics...where just like today all we can do is make management decisions and watch the chips fall as they may... That would be my dream |

What is your dream OOTP?
1. Improved and realistic 3-D graphics engine.
2. Less crashes. (Although, for the most part, this is probably not caused by Markus's program code, but by a combination of hardware and OS factors). 3. A complete, updated and downloadable (for offline reference) manual. 4. More variety to the stories and recaps. As it is, though, I'm happy with OOTPB. If OOTPB 17 were the last version of the game (I hope not), I will still continue playing it. Also, it doesn't escape me that Markus's creation is a remarkable thing indeed. I don't know exactly how many lines of code he has written. (Probably in the millions, or at least in the hundreds of thousands). But I have an idea of the technical complexity involved in creating a product like this. What I'm saying is that I appreciate what Markus has done for us by creating OOTPB. And in spite of its shortcomings (there's no perfect game, anyway), it's still the best baseball simulator in the market today. Thanks, Markus. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

When I get invested in winning the game, it's exciting even now, and for that matter even when I was just watching in 2-d. Still, it would be that much more fun to play out the games and actually watch fully realistic and detailed looking plays that completely look as if I were watching the game on TV. Whether that's eventually coming, I don't know. Given the improvements in the 3-D engine now compared to 2 years ago, I can imagine if it keeps improving at that rate that 4 years from now we might have it. It certainly would be great for immersion without needing (or wanting-- I want realistic stats) to control players video-game style. One thing they need for that to fully work is more pitches (because we'd be watching them come in), including arm angles, so watching a given pitcher in the game work would be unlike watching any other pitcher in the game, just like in real baseball. Watching the plays themselves develop as we can now (with much more detail and precision than we now have) will be great if we reach that point, but a great part of it for me will also be watching unique pitchers work. |

My dream would be to have the gameplay engine, PBP, and H2H playability of a game like Diamond Mind added to the GM-centric style of this game so that I can have the best of both without having to play two different games.

How about VR capability? This way you can interact with your team during BP, create your own personal GM luxury box to watch the home games, hang out in the clubhouse after the game etc.

Statcast and Pitchf/x. Appreciate it would take a complete overhaul of the engine but with the MLB license in place, maybe I can dream.

My dream at this point would be having a defensive lineup that can come in late game. So If I had a Ben Zobrist type @ 2B, I move him to RF, and replace the guy who started the game in RF with a defensive specialist who plays 2B.
For those of us who don't manage each game and do online leagues, this would be huge flexibility. |

Better 3D graphics would be OK but my dream would be to have a better almanac. For instance tracking team consecutive wins or losses or most runs per game and so forth. Also the ability to print directly from the game would be awesome.

Dreaming? I'd like the game announced like I was listening to it on the radio. A push the start button and sit down sim .. where the whole game plays out.. I sit on the deck and listen to real Yankee games. How cool would it be to be able to listen to a team I built on the radio? Really cool.

Game engine, maybe, as it would probably take me way too much time to truly evaluate it. However, I think the in-game PbP could stand to be a good deal more varied than I've seen in the games I've watched in this version. I've read a couple games to my wife during play, and there was an awful lot of repetition. I've never run across that issue with DMB. It seems to be the only thing of theirs that got a true upgrade since v9 (one of the reasons I now play OOTP almost exclusively now).

MLB Front Office Manager from 2K a few years back had good graphics for being a GM Sim.
Graphics like this would be incredible. |
