.400/50hrs hitter

Just had Duke Snider of all people hit .419
and 54 home runs.
Anyone else ever do that?

Pretty sure I've had both Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth pull that off in my '27 Yanks challenge mode games while simming for PT packs.

how often this occurs, or even is it is possible, will depend on your league total modifiers and such.

no player can hit .419 in my leagues, so it will never happen. i could make a 250/250 contact guy with 250/250 power and it won't happen. i think low .400s is possible, but in 100-200 sim years i don't often see it.

54 home runs is near my ceiling too. ~60 is max/near max in a long-term sim usually with my settings.

it's a top-percentile result or fraction of a percentile. if you look at it like that, everyone has a chance to see it with enough playing time. it's all relative. the numbers are a facade, really.

Nobody has hit more than 48 Home Runs in a season, Babe Ruth holds the lead in 1921. The highest Batting Average in my world is
.4418 by Ed Delahanty in 1899. The highest in this century is .4258 by Bill Terry in 1921.

so, the hr are definitely uniquely... the BA is just top-tier / high-end but not crazy rare. together, a very rare combination for sure, even if the BA isn't too extravagent.

it's all relative.. looking at what 'percentile' the result falls under will tell you how rare it is. with ootp, you can make any values ~average or impossible... totally upto the end-user. looking at percentile will allow for meaningful comparison to other leagues about how rare this or that is.

.500 could be a league's average BA, if you or anyone else wanted it... then, only a very few will reach the upper limits, which would likely approach .700-.750, i bet. with a few more data points i could guesstimate that better. in that league a .400 hitter isn't so impressive. Many mlb-like leagues out there can't even produce a .400 hitter with infinite sim-years. so, their comparios would be more like a ~.320-.350 / 60-70 hr guy. you could literally port that guy over, and if they were similar results (by percential), he'd very very likely do what the other guy is doing in the other league -- import/export idea. the stats won't follow, because the ratings don't cause stats on their own.. they are relative to the LTMs/totals. but, the same ratings will do the same thigns in each, realtively speaking... same percentile.
