Shoot for just enough to get into the postseason, THEN win out. How can you expect to win more than 120 out of 162 and follow it up with 10 MORE wins against the best teams in your league?

Life,
It,
Chance,
Karma.

I've named 4 things that will keep anything from being purely statistical.

Yeah the regular season isn't to crown a champion. Its to qualify for the best position during the playoffs.

Typical worthless responses from the majority of [snipped]on this forum. I give you facts and you are all too ignorant to recognize them. [snipped]

They have programmed this game to do whatever they want it to do, plain and simple. I could post so many screens of stats from several different teams that show the impossibility of a lot of the results. Some so absurd, you would have a better chance of winning the Powerball lottery then a lot of crap that happened in the game. None of you or this game is worth my time anymore. Good riddance [snipped]

I have plenty of time for conspiracy. If you want to post many stats and analyze them, I am reading them.

Just curious, but did calling out people on forums as being idiots ever worked for you ? Like, did a whole forum ever went back and said "wait a minute, this guy actually knows what's going on" ?

Sometimes, you have to fight numbers with numbers... I'm not exactly a slouch in math (Electrical Engineering degree).

Hypothetical;

5 team league playing 160 games. that's 40 games per team. When all is said and done, the first place team wins 120 games(75%), the 2nd place team 100 games(62.5%), the 3rd place team wins 80 games(50%), the 4th place team wins 60 games (37.5%) and the last place team wins 40 games (25%). Thus, the 1st place team gets 24 wins from the 2nd place team(60%), 28 wins form the 3rd place team(70%), 32 wins from the 4th place team(80%), and 40 wins from the 5th place team(100%). That totals his 120 wins.

Now, knowing the teams you will be playing in the playoffs are AT LEAST as good as the 2nd place team, that means you will likely win 60% of the games against them.

Here's the kicker...

60% of a 5 game series is 3 game out of 5.
60% of a 7 game series is 4.2 games out of 7.

All it takes in either of those situations is one hit or one strikeout to flip the series the other way - thus why playoffs are a crapshoot.

Vary the numbers above all you want, and when you reduce it down to 7 games or less, the expectations in a playoff series mean nothing.

Failing in 5 straight seasons is almost as probable as winning in 5 straight seasons.

he doesn't even believe it is random anymore (despite his posts from a couple days ago), the new conspiracy is that the developers have inserted code into the game specifically to keep him from winning in the playoffs

A team with a 60% chance of winning any one game should win 9 of 13 best of 5 series
