Values of my Backyard Mellonheads defensive team, currently in P403. In theory, valued at about $43. Pretty proud to have gotten a F2P team this far, and hoping to make a pretty big auction house splash soon as well. I've stocked up an extra 28K PP

Neither team is gaining any value; much the opposite.

The Brewers and Retros with small gains, the Palatines lost huge (mainly because a) Mr. Gehrig's value dropped from 135,000 to 75,000 and b) the club owner is sitting on his PP's waiting for a specific card to appear in the AH)
Of course the Brewers and Retros are F2P-teams

Fell quite a bit myself due to Maddux's drop down to 400k. Also made a graph tracking our PP fortunes. My first posts had Ty Cobb at a value of zero because it took a while for the card to be sold on the auction house. I've populated this graph with his valuation added retroactively.

Yeah you're pretty much right. There isn't much market for these cards -- I mean it'll take more than $200 of real money to buy it or 33 seasons of 12k PP seasons (my average so far) so it's hardly surprising that the value is so volatile. Take a look at Westheim's posts for the Walter Johnson valuations for an even more extreme example. Looking back at my older posts, he was 595k when I first pulled him from a pack, 575k the second week, and 400k this week.

Values going down, down, down...red numbers going up, up, up.
I think I've done the whole buy low thing wrong. EDIT: I messed the spreadsheet up again. Larkin's a 78, not a 74. Last edited by Magus978; 05-08-2019 at 05:49 PM. |

I keep changing a few players here and there, but I have not drawn a diamond in a while… and I am too much of a scrooge to buy one.

I've seen a lot of the Silver cards drop a ton in value. Probably because most of the teams that started in Week 1 are only upgrading their rosters with Gold and Diamond cards now, and the Silver cards are in oversupply and underdemand. Some of the big-name or better performing Silver cards have retained value, but the rest seem to have dropped off in value by at least 50%. They don't have much quick-sell price support either at 100 PP.

There's one good thing about the silver cards. Theme teams will still find a use for them for a few seasons as they try to build a bankroll. Most of my team is filled with IMO some of the better ones. Definitely taking a loss on long term value, but there's enough skill to serve a purpose for a few seasons. |

Depending on how the tourneys are run (if they ever arrive) and what the prizes are, there could be a huge shakeup in the costs for good silver and bronze cards for Silver/Bronze tournaments.

Hard to believe it's been a month since I last updated this...
The team value has appreciated by 36K PP since last check in--we're now in the six figures despite still being strictly F2P. I've gotten much better at buy-low/sell-high tactics and have found that Sunday is really the day to rake in the sales. You've got desperate people trying to compete in the playoffs and you've got people with deep pockets trying to revamp their team for the next week. I'm also trying to grab one player per week that'll go from gold to diamond--last week was George Springer...this week is Ryan Pressly. There's some other upside potential here with Cole, Buehler, Buttrey, Bummer, and Vazquez. If either Cole or Vazquez goes perfect, it's quick-sell city. One thing about all this churn is there are only 6 active players that were on the team one month ago. After selling my Eddie Stanky card for 16K PP to fund some other stuff, Gerrit Cole and Luis Aparicio are the longest-tenured Fighting Frogs on the active roster. They've been with the Frogs since silver level. Alan Wiggins is on the reserve roster and he's the only card remaining from back when the team was in iron league.

Skipped the last week so here we are for an update.
Can also introduce my new F2P team that has just emerged from the entry pool.

Not much going on with the Rebels, but the Raccoons brought in Dick Bartell and Rico Carty last week off the market, and they had a Jacob deGrom fall out of a pack.

Made a bunch of changes in the past week and a half...
Changed team name/photo (see signature below!) Sold Carlos Carrasco and Vern Stephens. Brought in a bunch of new guys, although my Lou Trivino investment was a huge mistake (paid 1200 for the guy to drop to 75 overall in 1 week...). Lost ~14000 of total team value from selling cards and market fluctuation. My total paid dropped by only ~3000. But my team improved! Next goal: Saving up for Trout... For the Position Column: Asterisk indicates position change/training. Green=Starting position player, Yellow=Platoon, Red=Backup/Utility

These teams have been promoted to Perfect and Silver, respectively, and dire times are ahead. Let's see who'll end up on waivers before the season ends.

One team had its pen reduced to rubble, the other remains completely uninspired, and the third one gambled on future gold cards and lost, killing any momentum they might have gotten in Iron.

After some wholesale changes the past few seasons, my team is finally worth more than I paid! Not that it's translating to on-field performance though
