2052 Season:

The PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES won the World Series, easily sweeping aside the Los Angeles Angels.

The KANE COUNTY COUGARS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 51-111, finishing six games behind the Jackson Generals for last place.

155 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Kane County Cougars

All Time Record: 2628-3025 (.465)

Best Season: 2042, 93-69, 27th place

Best Hitter: Zion Loving (2039-2048)

Loving was a first rounder in 2039, and hit .378 in a 13-game cup of coffee at the end of that season. He hit .300 or better in 9 straight seasons from 2042-2050. He hit a league-leading .363 in 2050, a year he spent with both Tampa Bay and Gwinnett.

Best Pitcher: Mike Balla (2041-2049)

Balla was a solid pitcher, racking up 23.8 WAR for the Cougars in the '40s as a starter. He struck out 252 batters in 2045 with just 35 walks. He converted to the bullpen in 2048, and he was released after a disastrous 2049 in which he posted a 9.07 ERA in over 40 innings. He signed a deal with the Delmarva Shorebirds the following offseason, but he was cut on Opening Day, never to pitch again.

Notes:

Gwinnett 1B Juan Castillo led the league once again with 54 home runs. The 28-year-old now has 445 for his career.

Idaho Falls 3B Nate Prewitt led the league with a 1.062 OPS and 9.5 WAR.

Bluefield RF Eric Beam struck out 265 times, good for second most ever in a single season, but 25 strikeouts behind Carlos Perez's impossible record of 290.

Altoona 3B Eric Warner jumped from 8th to 5th place all time with 2976 strikeouts, passing such players as Giancarlo Stanton and Fernando Tatis Jr. Tigers SS Esteban Huizara moved from 11th to 6th on the same list this season. Both players are under contract for the 2053 season and can move as high as third.

San Francisco SP Juan Delgado struck out 310 batters.

Missoula SP Zaire Loving allowed 57 home runs. Amazingly, he does not appear to be related to Zion Loving. He is, however, in all likelihood the son of former first baseman Zaire Loving, who had five plate appearances for the 2029 Hartford Yard Goats. Nine players with the last name Loving are currently in the league.

A season after finishing 67-94, the Seattle Mariners went 100-62 to finish in 9th place.

The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs were the best MiLB team, going 101-61 and finishing in 7th place.

The Oakland Athletics were the worst MLB team, going 74-88 and finishing in 119th place.

Teams eliminated:

2018: Princeton Rays

2053 Season:

The PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES won their second consecutive World Series in their third consecutive appearance, beating the San Diego Padres 4 games to 1. The Padres came into the series on a 10-game winning streak, but saw their luck change after a 7-2 Game 1 loss.

The JACKSON GENERALS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 56-105, finishing one games behind the Johnson City Cardinals for last place.

154 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Jackson Generals

All Time Record: 2582-3234 (.444)

Best Season: 2045, 87-74, 54th place

Best Hitter: Ernesto Descalzo (2028-2040)

Signed as an international free agent in 2025, Descalzo is the Generals' all time leader in hits with 1583 and WAR with 32.8. His best season came in 2036, when he had a .371 OBP and .450 SLG. Descalzo hit for the cycle against the Burlington Royals on July 24, 2038. He signed with Quad Cities in 2041, and later played with Oakland and Miami before retiring in 2045.

Best Pitcher: Taylor Widener (2018-2025)

A prospect in the Diamondbacks' system, Widener was assigned to Jackson when the league adopted its new format in 2018. He spent 8 seasons with the Generals, becoming their all time leader with 85 wins and 1672 K's. He posted a 3.24 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 2021. After leaving Jackson, he became a solid reliever with Kansas City, Colorado, and Atlanta before retiring in 2030.

Notes:

Gwinnett 1B Juan Castillo led the league in home runs for the fourth consecutive season, launching 58. He hit his 500th in a win over Omaha on September 19th.

Spokane LF Jose "Mr. Miami" Albertson led the league with a .360 batting average. Albertson is a native of Tucson, Arizona. Of the three players in the league to use Manny Machado's recycled nickname, none hail from Florida.

Everett two-way sensation Luis Augusto Diaz, Jr. led the league with 9.9 WAR. He had an 1.101 OPS and allowed just one run in 10.1 innings of relief. He now has hit 483 home runs for his career and pitched to a 1.54 ERA in 52.2 innings of work.

Braves pitcher Elija Castellano won his third Cy Young award, posting a league best 1.75 ERA and 0.78 WHIP.

Altoona 3B Eric Warner retired with 3059 strikeouts, good for 5th all time. 42-year-old shortstop Esteban Huizar is just 2 K's behind him, and he plans to return for the 2054 season. Tanner Witt is the all time strikeout king with 3507.

Dunedin SP Andy Garth allowed a preposterous 69 home runs. That number shattered the previous record of 59 set by Sam Salimbene in 2041. It was Garth's third season leading the league in home runs allowed, and his 438 in his career are 31st most all time, one ahead of the aforementioned Salimbene. Garth is just 32 years old, and if he continues to get jobs, he should challenge Bobby Farley's record of 575 homers allowed.

After four consecutive seasons in the bottom 10 of the league, the Springfield Cardinals had a miraculous turnaround season, going 99-62 and finishing in 9th place. They were led by ace Heui-chung Hyong, a rookie who signed from South Korea this past offseason and posted a 2.61 ERA.

The Albuquerque Isotopes were the best MiLB team, going 100-61 and finishing in 5th place.

The Cincinnati Reds were the worst MLB team, going 77-84 and finishing in 90th place.

Teams eliminated:

2018: Princeton Rays
2019: Bristol Pirates
2020: Aberdeen Ironbirds
2021: Hickory Crawdads
2022: Mobile Bay Bears
2023: Reading Fightin Phils

2054 Season:

The CHICAGO CUBS were World Champions. defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in 5 games. It was the Phillies' 4th consecutive World Series appearance.

The LAKE COUNTY CAPTAINS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 57-105, finishing one game behind the Elizabethton Twins for last place.

153 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Lake County Captains

All Time Record: 2718-3259 (.455)

Best Season: 2026, 91-71, 40th place

Best Hitter: Andy Orozco (2023-2032)

A first round pick in 2021, Orozco was named a top 100 prospect two years later. He hit 597 home runs in his career, including 375 with the Captains. In 2027, he hit 57 homers with a 1.007 OPS. He later played with Houston, San Francisco, and Springfield before retiring in 2038.

Best Pitcher: Fuuta Kawamoto (2036-2041)

He only spent 6 seasons with Lake County, and three were lost to injury. However, his other three were remarkable. He posted a 1.73 ERA and 0.80 WHIP in 2038, his third season after signing from Japan. Ultimately, his injuries caught up to him, and he retired in 2044 after a disappointing season in Oakland.

Notes:

1B Juan Castillo signed with the Detroit Tigers in the offseason, where he hit 46 home runs.

Tulsa LF Jeff Catlin led the league with a .372 batting average.

Missoula 2B Jeff West led the league with 8.9 WAR.

Miami RF Josh Crawford homered in 8 consecutive games.

Colorado SS Jonathan Fields hit his 700th career home run on August 6th. He retired following the season with 711 homers, good for 11th all time.

San Jose pitcher Jimmy Nelson led the league once again with a 1.89 ERA. Last season, he posted a 1.57 ERA, but he fell just 64 innings short of qualifying for the ERA title.

West Virginia SP Andy Garth allowed 42 home runs, giving him 480 in his career. He now sits at 15th on the all time list.

The Frisco RoughRiders were the best MiLB team, going 108-54 and finishing in 3rd place.

The Oakland Athletics were the worst MLB team, going 79-83 and finishing in 84th place.

Teams eliminated:

2018: Princeton Rays

2055 Season:

The NEW YORK METS were World Champions. defeating the Minnesota Twins in 5 games. Game 1 was an especially exciting 15-11 game in which each starter allowed 10 earned runs.

The BRADENTON MARAUDERS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 52-109, finishing five games behind the Rome Braves for last place.

152 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Bradenton Marauders

All Time Record: 2887-3252 (.470)

Best Season: 2038, 102-60, 8th place

Best Hitter: Jeff Loewer (2034-2044)

Loewer leads all Marauders with his .930 OPS and 51.4 WAR. A three-time top 40 prospect, he hit 34 home runs in Bradenton's 100-win 2038 season. Three years later, he finished 9th in baseball with a 1.037 OPS and 2nd with a .443 OBP. Loewer later played with several teams, eventually retiring after the 2051 season with Binghamton.

Best Pitcher: Steve Stout (2040-2047)

Stout was a closer, but for a team historically lacking in SP talent, he was the best pitcher the Marauders ever had. His 149 saves and 3.57 ERA are best in team history. After leaving Bradenton in 2048, Stout bounced around the league, eventually finishing his career with Binghamton as well in 2054.

Notes:

Spokane LF Jose Albertson led the league with a .377 batting average.

Daytona 1B Luis Aguirre led the league with 59 home runs. He also won his second Gold Glove.

Bowling Green 1B Juan Ortega led the league with a 1.112 OPS and 9.0 WAR.

San Antonio Andy Freiday Jr led the league with a 1.81 ERA.

Springfield Cardinals SP Steve Walker pitched 250.1 innings, nearly 30 more than the pitcher with the second most. Walker was acquired as the #1 overall pick in 2051 as the reward for finishing second-to-last the prior season.

SP Andy Garth allowed 8 home runs in 5 starts for Fresno before being released on April 28th. He retired following the season with 488 homers allowed, good for 11th all time.

The Daytona Tortugas were the best MiLB team, going 100-61 and finishing in 9th place.

The Cleveland Indians were the worst MLB team, going 71-90 and finishing in 123rd place. They were in the bottom 3 in the league for much of the season.

Teams eliminated:

2018: Princeton Rays
2019: Bristol Pirates
2020: Aberdeen Ironbirds
2021: Hickory Crawdads

2056 Season:

The CHICAGO CUBS were World Champions. defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in 5 games. The Cubs had won 120 games in the regular season..

The STOCKTON PORTS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 59-103, finishing one game behind the Charlotte Knights for last place.

151 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Stockton Ports

All Time Record: 2948-3352 (.468)

Best Season: 2040, 93-69, 28th place

Best Hitter: Greg Deichmann (2018-2024)

An A's prospect, Deichmann was on the Ports when the league switched to the new format. He played in all 162 games in 2022, posting a 7.2 WAR and 1.090 OPS. He signed with the Twins in 2025, and after missing two full seasons due to injury, he was never the same player. He retired in 2030 after just 831 plate appearances in his 6 years in Minnesota.

Best Pitcher: Kevin Sapp (2043-2054)

Sapp's 362 starts are most in Stockton history, which is surprising given that he spent the first three seasons of his career as a terrible reliever. His career as a starter has had its ups and downs, but he has had an ERA under 4 five times, and he has won two gold gloves. Sapp currently pitches out of the bullpen for the Fisher Cats, where he posted a 6.30 ERA this season.

Notes:

Wilmington RF Alex Gates led the league with 57 home runs

Harrisburg CF Tyrese Rodinson won MVP after leading the league with a 1.116 OPS.

Missoula 2B Jeff West led the league with 9.4 WAR.

San Antonio Andy Freiday Jr led the league with a 2.23 ERA, winning his second consecutive Cy Young.

Colorado SP Juan Terronez led the league with 280 strikeouts, his 5th consecutive season with 250 Ks.

1B Devon Kowalsky retired following the season with 3215 hits, putting him at 19th all time.

The Missoula Osprey were the best MiLB team, going 104-58 and finishing in 5th place. They led the league with 351 home runs.

The Cleveland Indians were the worst MLB team, going 72-90 and finishing in 118th place.

Teams eliminated:

2057 Season:

The SAN DIEGO PADRES were World Champions. defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in 5 games. The Phillies have now played in 6 of the last 7 World Series, winning just two of them. Still, they are clearly the best dynasty of this era of baseball.

The DUNEDIN BLUE JAYS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 57-104, finishing one game behind the Down East Wood Ducks for last place.

150 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Dunedin Blue Jays

All Time Record: 2974-3486 (.460)

Best Season: 2041, 97-64, 15th place

Best Hitter: Ernesto Mendoza (2022-2032)

An international signing from Venezuela, Mendoza was a top 5 prospect three times, peaking at #1 in 2023. He was a 4 time silver slugger, and he finished 2nd in MVP voting in 2030 after slugging .724 and finishing with 10.2 WAR. He also won a gold glove at 1B in 2026, before permanently moving over to second base a year later. Mendoza was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2047 after finishing his career with 2880 hits, 494 homers, and 85.9 WAR. His #3 is the only number retired by Dunedin.

Best Pitcher: Iuliu Lungu (2038-2044)

The Indiana native peaked at #3 in the league's top prospect list shortly before his debut in 2038. He strung together a few solid years for the Blue Jays, his best coming in 2041 when he posted a 3.36 ERA. He later pitched for the Astros, Dodgers, and Mets before retiring in 2052 with 181 wins.

Notes:

Pensacola 1B Winton Humby led the league with 54 home runs.

Albuquerque SS Jared Sweeney led the league with a .361 batting average, 1.117 OPS, and 9.9 WAR.

On July 20th, Blue Jays 1B Joey Fechter hit his 700th career home run. 37 years old, he does not appear to be slowing down, as he hit 49 this season. His 721 home runs rank him 11th all time, just ahead of Babe Ruth and just behind hall of famer Mike Napier.

After leading the league in home runs four consecutive years, Juan Castillo has seen a steep decline in his performance since signing with the Tigers. This season, his OPS+ was 97, and he was worth -0.1 WAR, eventually losing his starting job by the end of the season. Once seen as a lock to break Mike Trout's record of 888 home runs, Castillo will likely be out of the league soon.

Inland Empire SP Luis Raygoza led the league with a 2.11 ERA.

West Michigan SP Hasuan Wegner led the league with 319 strikeouts.

Ogden SP/RP Robbie Vera went 0-19 with a 7.91 ERA. In his career, he is 0-21. His 21 career losses without a win are the most all time, beating out Terry Felton who went 0-16 with the Minnesota Twins in the 1980s.

The Columbia Fireflies were the best MiLB team, going 102-59 and finishing tied for 3rd place, just one game out of a playoff spot.

The Chicago White Sox were the worst MLB team, going 70-91 and finishing in 118th place.

Teams eliminated:

2018: Princeton Rays
2019: Bristol Pirates

The ATLANTA BRAVES were World Champions, defeating the Daytona Tortugas in 7 games. Just 9 years after finishing in second to last place, the Tortugas became just the 2nd minor league team to play for the World Series, joining the 2030 Tacoma Rainiers. They blew a 3 games to 1 lead to the Braves to lose the title.

The EVERETT AQUA SOX were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 57-106, losing a one game playoff to the Vermont Lake Monsters to finish in last place..

Best Season: 2053, 95-66, 16th place

Best Hitter: Luis Augusto Diaz Jr (2040-2055)

A two-way star, Diaz has been talked about plenty in this series. The 2053 MVP was worth 99.8 WAR over his career. He slugged 602 home runs to go along with his 2.09 career ERA in 82 innings. When he joined the Cubs in 2056, Everett went from consistent contenders to bottom feeders overnight. He retired at the end of this season.

Best Pitcher: Jimmy Gerlach (2022-2034)

Originally drafted in 2019 by Beloit, Gerlach was traded to the Aqua Sox a year later for three players who never made it to the majors. Gerlach, on the other hand, developed into an ace and the team's all time leader in wins and pitching WAR. His best season came in 2029, when he went 18-9 with a 2.72 ERA. Gerlach retired in 2037 after three seasons with the Lowell Spinners.

Notes:

Quad Cities LF Juan Ramirez led the league with 60 homers and a .709 slugging percentage.

Lansing 3B Mike Woods led the league with 9.4 WAR.

Pulaski Yankees SP Germão Ansoleiro led the league with a 2.11 ERA.

Rockies SP Juan Terronez led the league with 286 strikeouts. It was his second year in a row with exactly 286 Ks, and his 7th straight with at least 250.

Despite being paid 17.6 million dollars and not getting injured, Tigers 1B Juan Castillo had just 23 plate appearances and hit .136 with zero home runs. He is only 34 years old, and his drop off is outstanding. He is under contract with the Tigers for one more season.

1B Joey Fechter was traded to the Giants in the offseason, where he hit 47 home runs. The 38-year-old now has 768 homers, putting him in 6th place all time and just two behind Bryce Harper.

Ogden SP/RP Robbie Vera finally won a game, snapping his career-opening losing streak at 0-22.

The Toronto Blue Jays were the worst MLB team, going 69-93 and finishing in 126th place.

2059 Season:

The ATLANTA BRAVES won their second consecutive World Series, defeating the New York Yankees in 5 games.

The JOHNSON CITY CARDINALS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 54-104, finishing three games behind the Fort Myers Miracle for last place.

148 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Johnson City Cardinals

All Time Record: 3141-3645 (.463)

Best Season: 2048, 101-61, 13th place

Best Hitter: Danny Taylor (2051-2058)

A 19th round pick turned top 100 prospect, Taylor was a solid first baseman for nearly a decade in Johnson City. His best season came in 2054, when he was worth 5.4 WAR with a .981 OPS and a league leading 15 intentional walks. This past offseason, Taylor signed a 6 year contract with the Washington Nationals.

Best Pitcher: Jeremy Copeland (2022-2033)

Copeland's time in Johnson City was up and down. He posted a 3.56 ERA in 2033, a year after posting a 5.76 ERA. He led the league with 34 starts in 2026. He later played with Altoona, Greenville, and Miami before retiring in 2035.

Notes:

Spokane RF Bret Abrahamson led the league with 56 home runs.

St. Louis 2B Mike Jurado led the league with a .679 slugging percentage and 1.110 OPS.

Boston SS Nate Beard led the league with 9.3 WAR.

Columbus SP Jaheim Escoffery led the league with a 2.27 ERA. For some reason, OOTP loves the name Jaheim. He is one of 53 Jaheims currently in the league, despite the fact that there has never been a player with that name in MLB or MiLB history.

Colorado SP Juan Terronez struck out 284 batters. It was his 8th consecutive season with 250 strikeouts, and his 5th straight with between 280 and 286 K's.

Erie 2B and 80 grade name Harland McFarland had a 29 game hitting streak. However, he walked just 22 times all year.

On September 20th, Giants 1B Joey Fechter hit his 800th career home run, his 32nd of 33 this season. The 39-year-old is now 5th all time in home runs.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals were the best MiLB team, going 110-51 and finishing in 3rd place.

The Detroit Tigers were the worst MLB team, going 72-89 and finishing in 112th place.

2060 Season:

The BALTIMORE ORIOLES were world champions, defeating the Kansas City Royals in 7 games.

The IDAHO FALLS CHUKARS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 55-107, finishing two games behind the Altoona Curve for last place.

147 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Idaho Falls Chukars

All Time Record: 3083-3862 (.444)

Best Season: 2050, 98-64, 16th place

Best Hitter: Nate Prewitt (2048-2054)

A star at the plate, Prewitt was named MVP in 2052 after leading the league with 9.5 WAR and 1.068 OPS. He is the club's all time leader in home runs, OPS, and WAR. In 2055, he signed an 8 year contract with the Yankees, with whom he hit 34 homers this year.

Best Pitcher: Jorge Vega (2036-2046)

Vega was very accomplished in his time in Idaho Falls. His 80 wins and 1610 strikeouts rank first in team history. With free agency looming, Vega was traded to Tacoma in 2046 for four center field prospects, including all star Juan Figueroa. After signing with the Yankees, Figueroa no-hit the Lancaster JetHawks on June 30th, 2047. He retired in 2050 after three more partial seasons in New York.

Notes:

Twins LF Tye Birley led the league with 57 home runs.

Twins CF Stephen Dorham led the league with a 1.138 OPS. Despite these two top sluggers, the Twins finished in 42nd place.

Lancaster SS Curt Goman led the league with 9.0 WAR.

Baltimore SP Wilfredo Thijssen led the league with a 2.08 ERA.

West Michigan RF Dan Carey homered in 8 consecutive games.

Joey Fechter signed with the Tampa Tarpons in the offseason and hit 41 home runs. He now has 842 for his career, putting him fourth all time. Only Trout, Bellinger, and Stanton are ahead of him.

Cubs SP Esteban Moreno moved into 9th place all time with 3844 strikeouts. The 38-year-old hasn't slowed down one bit, posting a 3.08 ERA and 249 strikeouts this season.

The Salt Lake Bees were the best MiLB team, going 102-60 and finishing tied for 4th place.

The Chicago White Sox were the worst MLB team, going 71-91 and finishing in 128th place.

Awesome to see this back up and running after the brief hiatus! Enjoyable concept, visual presentation, league notes, etc. You consistently dig up just the right amount of “Kurk Gems” to share and twist in some sneaky-funny lines, too...

“80 grade name Harland McFarland...”

Thanks! I love the fun details like this, and I'm trying to create some amount of immersion for the people reading this. It's been a lot of fun to make, and I can't wait to find out who the last team standing is.

2061 Season:

The ST. LOUIS CARDINALS were world champions, defeating the Fresno Grizzlies in 6 games. The first place Grizzlies were the third MiLB team to play in the World Series. They took a quick 2 games to 0 lead, but unfortunately lost the next 4.

The TOLEDO MUD HENS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 54-107, finishing four games behind the Missoula Osprey for last place.

146 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Toledo Mud Hens

AAA- Detroit Tigers

AAA Teams Remaining: 24

Tigers Affiliates Remaining: 4/5

All Time Record: 3441-3666 (.484)

Best Season: 2054, 103-59, 8th place

Best Hitter: Yen-Ti "Danger Man" Chiu (2025-2033)

Signed as a 30-year-old free agent out of Taiwan, Chiu made an immediate impact by hitting 48 home runs in his rookie year. In his nine seasons in Toledo, he hit 273 homers with a 131 OPS+. He retired in 2035 after seasons in Kansas City and Syracuse.

Best Pitcher: Kyle Funkhouser (2018-2023)

A real-life Tigers prospect, Funkhouser was assigned to the Mud Hens when the simulation began. In 6 seasons with the team, he posted a 130 ERA+ with 64 wins. His best season came in 2022, when he posted a 2.82 ERA. Unfortunately, his next season was a contract year, and he posted a 5.02 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. After 3 years in New Orleans and one season on the Red Sox' reserve roster, Funkhouser retired in 2028 at just 33.

Notes:

Orioles RF Kevin Merola led the league with 64 home runs and a 1.160 OPS. He was just 8 points of batting average shy of winning the triple crown.

Richmond 3B Steve Reynolds led the league with 9.6 WAR.

El Paso 1B and 5-time Gold Glove winner Ben Pritchett had a 36 game hitting streak that began on Opening Day and ended in early May.

San Francisco SP Deshawn Togba led the league with a 1.97 ERA.

St. Lucie SP Steve Murray struck out 309 batters.

Midland SP Buncho Arai pitched 8 complete games, 5 more than the second place pitcher.

Missoula SP Sergio Ramirez allowed 58 home runs, the most since Andy Garth gave up 69 in 2053.

Slugger Joey Fechter signed with the West Virginia Black Bears in the offseason. In his first 89 games, he hit 18 home runs, giving him 860 for his career. Unfortunately, he suffered an ankle injury in early July that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Now 41 years old, Fechter is 28 homers behind Mike Trout's all time record. He hopes to be back next season to challenge that record.

SP Esteban Moreno signed a 2-year deal with the Angels and struck out 176 batters, giving him 4020 for his career. He is 58 K's away from passing Jared Straight to move into 8th place, and he could conceivably move as high as 6th by the end of next season.

The Houston Astros were the worst MLB team, going 70-91 and finishing in 124th place.

Teams eliminated:

2062 Season:

It finally happened! The MIDLAND ROCK HOUNDS became the first ever MiLB team to win the World Series. They defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in 6 games. The Rock Hounds led the league in runs scored and batting average, and their bullpen ranked 9th in the majors in ERA.

The SPRINGFIELD CARDINALS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 49-113, finishing four games behind the Missoula Osprey for last place.

145 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Springfield Cardinals

AA- St. Louis Cardinals

AA Teams Remaining: 21

Cardinals Affiliates Remaining: 4/6

All Time Record: 3339-3930 (.459)

Best Season: 2053, 99-62, 9th place

Best Hitter: Juan Borja (2040-2048)

Originally drafted by Augusta, Borja played for Nashville and Round Rock before the Express released him in April of 2040. His career WAR to this point was -1.6. Borja signed with Springfield the following day, and the rest is history. He turned his career around almost immediately, slashing .305/.367/.474 in 102 games down the stretch. Two seasons later, he hit 35 home runs with a 143 OPS+, his first of 6 consecutive seasons with 30 homers. When his lengthy extension ran out in 2048, he was Springfield's all time leader in WAR, home runs, OPS, and games played. Borja truly is one of the game's great stories.

Best Pitcher: Steve Walker (2053-2052)

A former #1 overall pick, Walker burst onto the scene in 2055, when he pitched 250 innings with a 2.59 ERA, finishing second in Cy Young voting. However, he never lived up to that one season again. He has been a solid starter, but he never again had an ERA under 3.60, and he never struck out more than 200 batters. Walker will be a free agent next year at the age of 35.

Notes:

Gwinnett 2B Phil Dumont led the league with a .375 batting average and 11.1 WAR. Just 25 years old, Dumont is set to be a star in the league for a long time.

Gwinnett RF and Dumont's teammate Doug Wise led the league with 53 home runs. With both stars still on rookie contracts, this team hit 302 home runs. They should be fun to watch over the next few years.

Visalia RF Sergio Irizarry led the league with a 1.150 OPS.

Dayton SP Joe Porter led the league with a 1.77 ERA.

St. Lucie SP Steve Murray struck out 316 batters, his second consecutive season striking out at least 300.

Joey Fechter was unable to sign with a team this past offseason. He retired with 860 home runs, behind only Mike Trout's 888 and Cody Bellinger's 887. The active home run leader is now Red Sox 1B Ron Pickett with 645, but the 39-year-old is unlikely to challenge the record.

After a horrendous season, SP Esteban Moreno retired with 4092 strikeouts, putting him 8th all time. Despite being incredibly effective last year, Moreno pitched to a 7.92 ERA in 27 starts this year, striking out just 72 batters.

The Los Angeles Angels were the worst MLB team, going 76-86 and finishing in 97th place.

2063 Season:

The PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES won yet another World Series, defeating the Boise Hawks in 7 games. The Hawks became the third consecutive MiLB team to play in the World Series.

The CHARLESTON RIVERDOGS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 48-113, finishing three games behind the Iowa Cubs for last place.

144 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Charleston RiverDogs

A- New York Yankees

A Teams Remaining: 23

Yankees Affiliates Remaining: 4/6

All Time Record: 3463-3966 (.466)

Best Season: 2054, 95-67, 20th place

Best Hitter: Chris Otway (2032-2044)

One of the game's all time great hitters, Otway was a first round pick by El Paso in 2031. Just a season later, he was traded to Charleston for third baseman Andy Watson, who never did much of anything. Otway, on the other hand, would go on to be worth 87.1 WAR and hit 517 home runs, 372 of which came with the RiverDogs. His best season came in 2036, when he won a Silver Slugger and led the league with 9.6 WAR, finishing third in MVP voting. Six years later, he won a gold glove at 3B. Otway was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2053, and his #39 has been retired by Charleston.

Best Pitcher: Ken Weiss (2033-2043)

A former ace, Weiss' career overlapped significantly with Otway's, and he too would have been a Hall of Famer if it weren't for a tragic ending. His 3.37 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, and 56.5 WAR are all #1 in Charleston history. In 2039, he led the league with a 2.06 ERA, finishing 2nd in Cy Young voting. In July of that season, he threw a perfect game against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. In 2044, Weiss signed a 5-year deal with Hartford. After struggling through his first season, Weiss bounced back in 2045 until suffering a torn labrum in mid June. This injury turned out to be career-ending, and Weiss was released by the team, never to pitch again.

Notes:

Gwinnett 2B Phil Dumont led the league with 63 home runs and 10.6 WAR, winning his second consecutive MVP.

Lakeland RF Esteban Ojeda led the league with a .381 batting average.

Vermont CF Josh Walewski struck out 269 times. It was the second highest K total in a single season, behind only Carlos Perez's untouchable record of 290 strikeouts in 2036.

Inland Empire CF Jeff Perry hit 60 doubles.

Auburn SP Jim Cave led the league with a 1.93 ERA.

Oklahoma City SP Nickolas Lewis led the league with 21 wins, a 0.87 WHIP, and exactly 300 strikeouts. 8 years ago, Lewis was picked 1447th in the draft, but he was the league's top prospect just two seasons later, and he finished 2nd in Cy Young voting this year.

Burlington Royals closer Bob Beach has currently converted 70 consecutive save opportunities, giving him the 5th longest streak of all time. He saved 42 games this year and struck out 14.5 batters per 9 innings.

43-year-old CF Ronnie Baker put together a 3.6 WAR season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, giving him 121.5 WAR for his career. That number puts him 15th all time, just behind Rogers Hornsby. Baker shows no signs of slowing down, and he is under contract for two more seasons after this one.

The Minnesota Twins were the worst MLB team, going 71-90 and finishing in 115th place.

There should be enough teams to create a league or two that might allow teams to regain their spots in the above setup, by now. Would like to see if any teams could come out of the Pit and all, I think. Just a thought here, that's all. CD out.

2064 Season:

The MILWAUKEE BREWERS won their first ever World Series, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in 6 games.

The ASHEVILLE TOURISTS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 53-109, finishing one game behind the Iowa Cubs for last place. After finishing in the bottom 3 three seasons in a row, Iowa is stockpiling high draft picks, and they could be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

143 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Asheville Tourists

A- Colorado Rockies

A Teams Remaining: 22

Rockies Affiliates Remaining: 4/6

All Time Record: 3429-4163 (.452)

Best Season: 2031, 91-70, 38th place

Best Hitter: Mike Hopkins (2020-2029)

The Texan was drafted in the 14th round by Hickory in 2019, but he played just 41 games for the Crawdads before being traded across the state to Asheville. From 2021-2024, he hit at least 45 home runs in four consecutive seasons. His best season came in 2022, when he hit 57 home runs and was worth 7.8 WAR, leading the majors with 114 extra base hits. After becoming a free agent in 2029, Hopkins was unable to sign with a team, and he retired.

Best Pitcher: Jimmy Bachman (2055-2064)

After coming up as a reliever, Bachman quickly established himself as the team's ace. In 2062, he posted a 3.22 ERA and 6.7 WAR. Bachman is most notably known for his durability; he has not missed a start since becoming a starter in 2057. This June, Bachman was sent to Milwaukee, where he was a key part in the Brewers' World Series run. Unfortunately, his Tourists collapsed down the stretch without him.

Notes:

Gwinnett 2B Phil Dumont led the league with 10.7 WAR, winning his third consecutive MVP. He was worth 2.8 more wins than the second best player. He truly is the Mike Trout of the 2060s.

Kingsport RF Alfredo Fonseca led the league with a .360 batting average.

White Sox 1B Dusty Nielsen led the league with 56 home runs.

Vermont CF Josh Walewski led the league in strikeouts in his second consecutive season. These were the first two full seasons in his career. The 25-year-old has struck out 250 more times than Joe DiMaggio did in his entire career.

Wilmington RF Chris McGrew stole 70 bases.

Spokane SP Jorge Correa led the league with a 2.17 ERA.

Oklahoma City SP Nickolas Lewis won the Cy Young award after posting a 2.49 ERA and 292 strikeouts.

St. Lucie SP Steve Murray led the league with 333 strikeouts. It was the most strikeouts in a season since Clayton Kershaw struck out 343 batters in 2020, and it was Murray's third season in 4 years with at least 300 K's.

Burlington Royals closer Bob Beach saw his saves streak end on May 12th after 78 saves. Besides his ability to rack up saves, Beach is a run of the mill reliever, posting a 4.37 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were the best MiLB team, going 103-59 and finishing in 4th place.

The Seattle Mariners were the worst MLB team, going 76-86 and finishing in 89th place.
