As a fellow Maritimer, I would love to play this. Any chance you've updated it for OOTP 19?

So...

My original file crashed, but I rebuilt the Atlantic Baseball League, starting in 1977 again of course, with a slight change in the structure :

In 1977, each ABL team had a nearby amateur AAA affiliate. Each team also had a Single-A affiliate in lower-level leagues called the "Maritime Hardball Union", which you could only compete if you were either under contract or drafted by your team.

Eventually, in 1987, the Maritime Hardball Union doubled to become a "AA" league as well, with each franchise adding a "AA" version of their already-existing Single-A teams.

---

The current structure :

Professional
Atlantic Baseball League

AAA (Amateur)
Northwest League
Central League
Scotia League
Avalon League

AA
Maritime Hardball Union

Single-A
Maritime Hardball Union

High School (62 schools)
New Brunswick High School - Class-A
Nova Scotia High School - Class-A
Prince Edward Island High School
Newfoundland High School
New Brunswick High School - Class-B
Nova Scotia High School - Class-B

---

Here is a league timeline :

1977 : formation of the ABL, with 10 teams

1977 : The ABL teams' AAA minor league affiliates are amateur, in the Central and Scotia Leagues.

1977 : Players below AAA level are in the Single-A Maritime Hardball Union, located in 2 main cities (Moncton and Halifax) to give the best mid-range players a place to show their skills.

1977 : There are 4 high school leagues ... Nova Scotia and P.E.I. each have a league, while New Brunswick is split into "Class-A" and "Class-B".

1983 : With ABL expansion to Newfoundland expected in '84, the Newfoundland High School league was added. Today it includes 8 teams.

1984 : ABL Expands to Moncton and Newfoundland (St. John's). There are now 12 league teams.

1987 : The Maritime Hardball Union added a "AA" level. Now, each ABL team has an identically-named team in both the MHU-"A" and MHU-"AA".

1988 : ABL expands to Corner Brook and St. Stephen. The ABL now includes 14 teams.

1993 : The Cumberland Classics go bankrupt and reappear as the 1994 Pictou County Clippers.

1995 : Dieppe and Annapolis Valley are added to the ABL. The ABL now has 16 league teams.

1995 : Nova Scotia now splits into "Class-B" and "Class-A" high school leagues.

1996 : The first ever ABL All-Star Game is played.

1999 : Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Summerside and Campbellton added to the ABL. They now count 20 league teams.

1999 : The AAA Avalon League was added in Newfoundland, to house the province's teams in their own self-contained league. The "A" and "AA" Terra Nova league was also added.

2004 : Shediac, Edmundston, Conception Bay and Bridgewater are added to the ABL, to add up to the current 24 teams.

2004 : The AAA Northwest League was added. The "A" and "AA" River Valley League (based out of Fredericton) was added.

It took me about a decade to figure this out.. long after I graduated from high school in the area.. but it is apparently the native Mi'kmaq word for 'Salmon' (Miramichi river is a pretty world-class salmon fishing spot)

Update : good news... my laptop hasn't melted yet!
It has been saving the extensive data from my league file for the last 26 hours, and should be done by tomorrow!

Warning : Given there are 41 almanacs to save in the file and it is unbelievably detailed, this might be a big bastard of a file, and I will upload it somehow... not sure how yet, but we will see

Good news : The ABL is now in a zip file.

Bad news : I am a maniac for detail and this monster is now a frighteningly-large 14.9 GB file

I will try and squeeze it into a Google Drive link soon.
Stay tuned...

Since this league is all about alternate history, here is a little background article about one of the towns in one of the AAA leagues. Except for the addition of the baseball team, the rest is all actually true! Enjoy!

---------------------

What's in a name? The background story of McAdam, the long-ago railway town with a AAA team.

Jonathan Steeves
The Atlantic Baseball Chronicles
October 27th, 2018
McAdam, New Brunswick

In the ABL's smallest market of St. Stephen, home of the rabid Bluebird fanbase and general baseball chaos, it is fitting and also pretty incredible that the smallest town in AAA ball is also their affiliate. They have together become local pro baseball's unlikely story. This is the story of the tiny town of McAdam.

The legendary McAdam rail station

The fact that McAdam even registers on the ABL map is amazing. They are a town from a previous generation. Located just over the Maine border, from the early-to-mid 20th century, McAdam was a vital rail link to all those who entered the Maritime provinces. Despite a population of only a few thousand, they had the largest train station in Atlantic Canada, and a beautiful one at that! During the early century, the station's bars and restaurants were graced by the rich and famous coming through the area. This spot in the middle of nowhere was the guide to all those that wanted to traverse the Maritimes by rail.

This small town, a gateway to the rest of the Atlantic provinces, gradually lost it's importance in the 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond as tourists began to arrive via air travel and skipped McAdam's legendary station.

Sadly, due to dwindling passenger numbers, in December 1994, the last passenger train left McAdam's station.

Some time before this shattering event happened, McAdam joined the local baseball world as the AAA affiliate to the newly-formed St. Stephen Bluebirds in 1988. The down-on-their-luck rail town was not expected to last, but the residents rallied behind their new team. Appropriately named the "McAdam Railers", they filled the modest grandstands in this town of 2000 people.

24 years after the last train has left McAdam, the "Railers" are still playing baseball.

In 2003, the team even made it to the AAA Central League finals, losing 3 games to 1 versus Caraquet.

Starting in 2004, McAdam rode that wave to become one of the top teams in the newly-formed AAA Northwest League, which it now resides. In 2006, the team won it's only championship, beating the Kent Cavaliers 4 games to 2.

Of course, the victory parade was focused on none other than a glorious party train, parked at the old station for the weekend, reliving the old days of the town, and many a beer was consumed ... just like the old glory days.

McAdam is still around, now with a dual history of the railroad, and Railers baseball. Despite what many 'pundits' predicted, the St. Stephen Bluebirds have kept the Railers as their little brothers, and in 2018, McAdam celebrated the Railers' 30th anniversary.

Here is a little history lesson on McAdam's station, in real life, courtesy of the CBC :

I finally compressed it to the bare minimum (maximum?) to load this online. Just under 15 GB on a Google Drive.

Almanacs date to the beginning in 1977
All box scores within the almanacs are present as of 2000.
All game logs within the almanacs are present as of 2010.
Game date : October 22, 2018

If you have OOTP 18, you can give this a try!

No problem!

As requested, here is a "Lite" version of the ABL ... also dated October 22nd 2018. This one has no almanacs at all, and is only 1.12 GB.

You can find it in the link below :
ABL_Oct22_2018.quick.zip

So, depending on what level of immersion you are looking for, you have the 'hardcore history' version above, or this streamlined 'lite' version.
