Bug on Error
Guys on 2nd and 3rd. Batter hits ground ball to third. Thirdbaseman throws ball to first who "drops the ball" even though the graphic shows the ball rolling almost to the dugout.
The runner that was on third scored. The runner that was on 2nd made it to third and stood there while the RF ran all the way in to pick up the ball. The firstbaseman stood there just as clueless. If the 1B truly just dropped it, then the outcome makes sense, but the graphical depiction is WAY off. Last edited by Critical Mass; 07-11-2018 at 12:05 PM. |

The "truth" is the text. Currently the graphical representation of the plays could be called an "adaptation" at best. Look to the written word for the truth of how the play was rolled.

Yeah sometimes the errors and ground rule double animations are really off from what actually took place. You sometimes get a lot of weird bounces and rolls where they are chasing it forever in the animation

Exactly. I've seen the ball roll to the wall with a shortstop chasing it and throwing the guy out at first once he gets it. It is just a result from the current limitations in the game's ability to accurately portray the plays graphically.

I just live with these. My current favorite is when, on a steal of second, the runner slides past second and makes the corner to head towards third while still oh his belly as the ball "sails in to the outfield" - which it does not.
All good.

I probably only play out 3 dozen regular seasons games. So it doesn't bother me either.
I can see where it must get on the nerves of guys who play out way more games. |

Errors
I play out every game & those little things don't bother at all. It's a work in progress. But the reason I play OOTP baseball is because is a text based simulation, whereas the most popular video game in the world MADDEN NFL with it's awesome graphics, sounds & what a $60+ price tag now u basically have to play 5 minute quarters to make scores realistic & rest assured there are 1 or 2 plays on offense (if you search) where it's 99.99% successfull & groundrules about not using that play have to be made. I've also remember some of the old baseball games where you found a pitch where no one could hit (or rarely) and spin shutout after shutout. Yeah I miss those days...NO I DON'T....Give me a game as statistically as accurate as OOTP anyday even if all the 3D bells and whistles are omitted.
Thanks Development Team at OOTP...forever & always a customer BB |

My favorite is when a batter hits one right over 2B and the CATCHER chases it to the wall and throws the batter out at first.
