Wow... P415 It looks like just about everyone other than us in p415 is a whale. This is by far the hardest perfect league I have ever seen. Buckle down this season, it's gong to be a tough ride.

Ok, got some more information: there are two whale leagues; the original whale league (OG whale) and a new db-whale league. Somehow we got stuck with a mixture of OG whales and new db-whales, but some of the OG whales are elsewhere. At any rate, we are only here for a week, so just grit and bear it... we should be in better shape next week.

We have the sheer volume on our side. Surely, the luckiest among us is capable of climbing the ladder and fighting for a WC spot.

I imagine some of us may be relegated. Looking at myself.

Oh I dunno, after transforming two of my teams from their usual state into the new OL format, I might be looking at it as well. Clearly, the fight against relegation to be eligible for next week is the thing we're all competing for.

It's going to be a long season. So far my team in Perfect has faced:
100 Walter Johnson 2x 100 Greg Maddux 2x 100 Cy Young 98 Waite Hoyt 2x 88 Ismael Valdes 69 Jack Aker (I have no idea) Did I mention we're 0-9? To be the smallest bit fair, the first 7 games are against Stone, who has a roster loaded with 100s. So I think they will do pretty well regardless as to who they play. My team BA so far is .143. Go team! |

This is turning into a rebuilding year for the Minneapolis Gauchos. After getting off to an abysmal 5-20 start after Day 1 that has us fighting off relegation, we've parted with the headliner Mike Trout and are making some modest bullpen upgrades while preparing for the release of Collections.
Meanwhile, the Cottons sit at 15-15, despite playing in a division with multiple PL winners. It seems that .500 is about as good as it will get for any of the F2P teams this week.

The Parakeets are getting their wings plucked. The Mokes have been surprising.

It's only been one day, so there's room for change. But, in my experience, there is a smaller gap between Diamond and Perfect than a lot of people realize. Still a HUGE gap from the bottom/middle to the top, but a championship Diamond team is closer to an average Perfect team at this point than it is to a bottom-tier Perfect team. The Cottons came to Perfect several weeks after the Gauchos and the Condors, but they have consistently proven to be a stronger team.

I was feeling pretty smug at 18-15, but then my team went on a 4-game losing streak against other non-whales. Oh well, not ideal, but it happens.
Then my team had consecutive series against SLP Fighting Apes, Washington Explorers, Stone Island, Amsterdam Armada, and Early Era Explorers. I'm not feeling all that smug anymore, now that we're 18-35. Anyone remember how long the gold losing streak achievement is, and how many PP it's worth? Asking for a friend.

We'll try our best to stay in Perfect, but wouldn't be completely disappointed to drop down to Diamond.

Just bear it this week; next week will be better
All --- just hold out this week, assuming we don't get stuck in whale city next week things should be better.

My bunnies made the playoffs their first season in perfect as a wild card team. When we have better matchups I do think some of us might be able to squeeze out a wild card team; or win a weak division without any whales in it. Once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. That year, my bunnies won the wild card game, and came within one run in extra innings of winning the divisional series against a big whale. So don't lose hope!

My Chippewa Grey Wolves are F2P and are currently in P407. If I don't get relegated is there any chance I can join this league?

Jeff, glad to have you. The more people we have participating, the less likely we will be paired with the "dolphin" league (like last week) or the "whale league" (this week). If we can get fifteen to twenty total people we can pretty much guarantee we won't have any of those matchups.
