The newspaper/playoff reminder thread
In OOTP 14, the league newspaper does not mention it when:
A team clinches its division/league A team earns a wildcard spot A team plays in a tiebreaker A team wins a playoff game A team wins a playoff series A player wins a playoff series MVP A team wins the league championship This needs to change in OOTP 15. These events are all significant league news items, and they all belong in the league newspaper.

I would really like to see overall newspaper coverage addressed first.

I always felt that the postseason was always shortchanged in the news department and could not figure out why.

Actually. Shortchanged was a bad word choice. Downright ignored is better I think

The postseason...
Quote:
- Playoff & tiebreaker scheduling - Player usage, especially starting pitchers at the end of the season (which of course affects postseason) - Accessibility of previous-seasons' results, stats, boxscores With all that has been put into realism and customization of other aspects of OOTP, it would be great to see elements that surround this most-important time of the season get some attention. |

In News also say like on 3-23 the Yankees send Ivan Nova to Minor League Camp or 3-25 the Dodgers sent Pederson to Triple-A or on 5-12 the Braves have put Gettis on DL and called up Alex Wood or on 11-12-2015 CGON rumored to be Traded for Walker,Franklin,Ackley and so on.

I would be more than happy to write 2 versions of each event that The Wolf listed above. If we can get a few more people to contribute we would have about as much variation as we currently do on the player of the month awards. That would be good for now. Speaking of Player of the Month variation...Can we help here?

+1. At least an email when a minor league affiliate wins the championship in their league would be a very welcome addition.

I always found it odd that I hear about a 36 yr old backup C not being happy then I do ANY achievement during World Series time
A tied record (3 doubles in a game) A beaten record (15Ks in a game) during the World Series should have news article and can you pick the World Series MVP right after the World Series in 14? I am still on 13

Completely agree about a better newspaper, especially when it comes to the postseason and world series.
Would also love to see each team's game have an automatic recap within the newspaper as well. Perhaps OOTP can leverage the gamechanger website algorithm. https://www.gamechanger.io/features/.../recap-stories Read an Example Recap Hamilton A's-Forcini drops 10-5 game to the Manalapan Braves Red despite efforts of Benner Cole Benner did all he could to give Hamilton A's-Forcini a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past the Manalapan Braves Red, as Hamilton A's-Forcini lost 10-5 in six innings at Pecci two on Saturday. Benner had a good game at the plate for Hamilton A's-Forcini. Benner went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. Benner singled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning. The Manalapan Braves Red's Gargano was perfect at the dish, going 1-1. Gargano singled in the first inning. The Manalapan Braves Red tacked on another four runs in the second. The inning got off to a hot start when Bullen singled, bringing home Cappola. That was followed up by that scored Pellecchia. After pushing across two runs in the top of the third, Hamilton A's-Forcini faced just a 5-2 deficit. An RBI single by Benner and an error sparked Hamilton A's-Forcini's rally. The Hamilton A's-Forcini threat came to an end when Pellecchia finally got Dominic Chiarello to ground out. The Manalapan Braves Red increased their lead with three runs in the third. A scored Grieco to start the inning. That was followed up by that scored DeAlemeida. Two runs in the top of the fourth helped Hamilton A's-Forcini close its deficit to 8-4. A two-run double by Joey Sacco gave Hamilton A's-Forcini life. Nick Psomaras grounded out to end the Hamilton A's-Forcini threat. The Manalapan Braves Red built upon their lead with two runs in the fourth. Cappola started the inning with a single, plating Gargano. That was followed up by that scored Zucker. One run in the top of the fifth helped Hamilton A's-Forcini close its deficit to 10-5. A groundout by Dominick Gambino triggered Hamilton A's-Forcini's comeback. Pellecchia ended the inning by getting Matt Kozma to strike out. |

I would actually like to see news about minor league playoffs more than I would like to see news about major league playoffs (though I would like those as well).
I never 'miss' the major league playoffs, but without news, the minor league playoffs happen without me ever noticing, for the most part.

There are so many things that can be done with the newspaper, many of which have been mentioned above and in previous posts.
Overall I think the newspaper should become a major asset to the game rather than an "add-on" feature. I wouldn't be against the game presented through a newspaper format even. I think the news portion of this game has a huge potential - and imagined in combination with the coming graphics could significantly improve the immersion factor. BC |

I don't care about the newspaper. Therefore, this is purely a niche request.
