10% tax

I figured since it was tax day, what better thing to bring up than taxes?

Does anyone know what that 10 percent tax is used for or why it’s in the game? Will it help schools, highways, or is there an OOTP stadium in the works?

Also, will there be a future patch that gives a tax break(maybe 5%) to the wealthy. So if you have over 100,000 points, you’d only be taxed 5 percent or something like that so that the extra money and resources can trickle down to the middle class. I read something about that once, maybe it’s a good idea for the game?

you need point sinks to keep the economy in balance or else there would be crazy inflation

also it reduces the appeal to just be a middleman buying and reselling cards which keeps them out of the hands of players who want to use them

10% may or may not be the right number but I think it's fine

It buys the booze for the OOTPD folks and forum moderators who have to sift through the various complaining threads all day long.

It goes straight to Jerry Reinsdorf while he trots Rick Hahn out to the media to lie to their fans about being ready to spend the big bucks on free agents.

Sure. You can have more than one sink in order to create the right balance.

It's more like a 'central bank' kinda thing, controlling pp inflation. So they can (in theory) lower or raise the tax if things in PT get weird in the future.

The devs are now really reaping the rewards of a successful new addition to OOTP, Perfect Team.
They deserve to do well.
Now they just have to give us access to our additional content purposes.

With the 10% being paid by the player putting the card up for auction and not the prospective buyer, this is not always completely true. There is a small incentive to purchase cards being auctioned at the sell now price, as the purchaser breaks even but the seller takes a loss. This also incentivizes quick-selling those cards to take them out of circulation permanently.

true for random discard value cards, but looking at stuff people actually want if you buy a card for 9000 you have to sell it for at least 10000 which is a pretty big bar. I wouldn't make the investment unless I wanted the card to use or thought I could sell for at least 11-12k
