Assistant GM
Can the Assistant GM role be left vacant when playing as Manager/GM? I handle all personnel moves and delegate nothing to the Assistant GM. Frankly, I don't know if I even could if I wanted to, which I don't.
Would there be any downside to leaving it vacant, such as it degrading the quality of scouting, or being able to negotiate trades? I've played the game for years and always kept the role filled, but I have no idea what benefits I get from having an outstanding vs. poor Assistant GM ... or having none at all. |

You can play without an Asst GM. There is no downside.

Oh you don't want to give an honest bloke a job? Greedy owner and gm I see lol
You don't need him at all. But remember your staff does retire or might not want to come back so won't sign an extension. You can park someone valuable in the assistant gm slot. You might have a great trainer. But what happens if he retires? That 2nd awesome guy might have a job already. Well guess what offer him your assistant GM job. Anything happens to your trainer you got a backup. I often hide scouts in assistant gm spot. I've had numerous ones of those retire or not want to resign. |
