Tried 1600 screen and now back to old setting with problems

I read about the 1600 setting on the screen and that it showed more of the score...hits...errors etc. I finally got the 3D L A Coliseum for the LAD 59 but then when I gave the 1600 setting a shot everything went haywire.

I keep telling the pc to go back to 1024/768 and it only goes to something 1300. What a mess.

It made things obviously smaller and I like the little guys in the field to be a little bigger as with my old setting.

So I went back to my old setting 1024/768 and now my screen goes beyond the edges and when I get to a game the widgets are all messed up and can't find a way to get things back to normal setting. Can't get them to originals size. ???

If you have time any help would be appreciated.

2) And I can't find Montgomery of the Cubs and another player on their roster to put them on it. ???? Can't figure out where to do a search for the player to see where he is.

I had a problem similar to this in 18. I think I clicked in and out of windowed mode and it fixed itself. I may be remembering wrong. It may also have been one of those times where I was clicking on all kinds of stuff and have no idea what fixed it.

One of the menus has an option to reset widgets. Might give it a try?

To search for a player, look for the little magnifying lens at the top center of the screen.

And you can make those little guys a little bigger by going in-game to File/Settings/3D & Facegen and increasing the "Player Model Scale" option

Thanks fellas for your time. But it looks like I'll just have to skip playing this great game until I can afford to hire a geek.

The game settings are cut back. They overlap each other in several areas. I used to have access to items on my main pc screen to adjust sound and other things but they don't pop up anymore. The widgets are way to big for the screen to look like it used to.

The 3D stadiums looked fantastic but now they are all messed up. I found Montgomery with the Rockies but so much is overlapped I can't get them to trade him back to the Cubs because I can't reach certain parts.

I'm sure your varied ideas are helpful but I can't used them because the screens are a mess and you can't reach things I could easily get before.

I had no idea trying out a 1600 screen would ruin everything but I'm sure it's because of my added stupidity.

I might try reinstalling the game if I can hire a geek to fix whatever got messed up going to 1600 screen setting and trying to get it back to where it was at 1024/768.

So very disappointing as I was trying before this to setup the actual Cubs/Cards battle in real life this week.

Oh well...that's the way it is sometimes when you are 73 and tend to mess pc stuff up. : )

There might be a way around this without the geek. Are you on a PC or Mac? And don’t get excited, it doesn’t even involve starting the game. Yet.

I just simply flipped over OOTP19 after buying the game for over 10 years.

Had no idea trying out 1600 on display would affect things so much.

No worries. I try luck and intuition sometimes. I won’t assume anything. And you may need patience with me. Do you know how to get to the Run function on Win10? Forget myself sometimes. Think it’s right click on the big icon lower left corner. If you can find that, type in %appdata% and it’ll bring up some directories. Navigate to the OOTP one and click on it. You should see a Config directory then click on that to see some cfg files like app.cfg and engine.cfg

Let me know when you find them or if you have trouble finding them.

Edit: oh, and did you alter to the 1600 through the game or your Win10 display settings? I’m thinking you did it in game settings. Not sure.

No...I changed screen settings from the main boot up screen on the PC. Only after doing that did I then go to the OOTP19 game.

Great. Double click app.cfg and let Notepad open it. Look for a line that says Crash on Startup or something like that.

Ok...crash is on the top line: crashed_on_startup...followed by 0 underneath it

Perfect. Carefully mouse to that 0 and change it to a 1 then exit, saving the file. Theoretically we’re telling the game it crashed last time you played it so when you play the next time it should reset at least some problem areas and return them to original condition we hope . I’ll be close as I can off and on for a bit, but we’ll keep at it.

Sorry...game opened saying it would fix the crash results.

But after getting into the game it was just the way it has been since I messed with the 1600 boot up screen.

Much overlapping in the game screen. Example the Play button is overlapped by the schedule part etc. It is like the game has no room for 1/4th of it's regular screen data.

But that's enough time today Endgame. Really appreciated your help. I'll just be playing a golf game when I get some leisure time. : ) drat
