8/1/2081 -
The Dodgers made a trade this month sending LF Matt Bell and two minor league pitching prospects to the White Sox in exchange for LF Ron James. Both pitchers (Ed Richardson and Ramon Cardenas) are likely back of the rotation options, with Richardson close to major league ready, and Cardenas a long way away.
James is 29 years old and is capable of playing everywhere but catcher. He's a career .268 hitter and should provide us with some good value off the bench. Our second trade of the month was sending RF Earl McKinney, 2B Miguel Anaya, and minor league third baseman John Hall to the Pirates in exchange for right fielder Ronald McMillan. McMillan is hitting .268 with 17 home runs this year, and will provide us with some insurance if Mike Williams leaves as a free agent. On the field the Dodgers went 12-12 and finished the month in second place, just one game back. The Dodgers had three All-Stars this year - SP Gordon Baird, 1B Keith Hudson, and RF Mike Williams. The Dodgers dipped our toes in the international amateur market, signing 16-year-old starting pitcher Jose Vazquez. He was the top international amateur, but has a long way to the majors. Shortstop Tim Delaney is making $14.7 million this year, and agreed to a two year $22.2 million extension. The second year is a vesting option, requiring 500 plate appearances, which I feel is necessary with a 38-year-old shortstop. Around the league 33-year-old Carlos Contreras of the Rangers hit his 300th career home run, and 38-year-old Dave Dillard of the Royals picked up the 2000th hit of his career. |

With a 14-12 month the Dodgers finished August in a three way tie for first place. We'd really like to win the division, but we need to finish the year strong because we hold just a three game lead over Mexico City, so we could easily finish the year on the outside watching the playoffs at home if we don't finish the year strong.
Ramon Lupercio of the White Sox picked up his 2000th career hit this month, as did Josh Carter of the Minnesota Twins. |

The playoffs are in our future after a 17-9 month, although we're still tied for first place. Our 88 wins are already two better than last year. Our owner is happy, the fans are happy, now we need to just go out and win the division!
The milestones for the month were 34-year-old Angelo Osorio of the Twins picking up their 2000th career hit, 42-year-old Luis Rosa of the Nationals picking up their 2500th career hit, and our very own Matt Mills hitting his 400th career home run. |

Thanks for bumping, and bumping, and bumping again, and sorry for ignoring all of those bumps until now. It's really hard to believe that it's been just about a year since my last post. In some ways it seems like just a few weeks. I do hate when life gets in the way. I did really have plans to go to OOTP XX, but honestly haven't had much time with XX sadly.. I suppose there is still a little bit of time to make the leap though, but first I need to get out of LA.
Now the good news is I do have some posts ready, but the bad part is I don't remember what happens in the 2081 playoffs, so I guess I'll find old along with you. I've been missing playing OOTP, and things have slowed down enough that I feel that it's possible to resume posting on a regular basis. |

The Dodgers went from a first place tie to third place with a 4-3 month. I'm happy with the 92 wins, and the playoffs, but winning the division and getting some rest in the Wild Card round would have been nice. We'll be taking on the Conquistadors in the Wild Card round, and they had our number this year winning 8 of 12 games. We'll see what happens on the field though, and hopefully we can pull off a playoff win.

10/12/2081 - Wild Card Game 1
The Dodgers will need Chris Moss to step up after Gordon Baird went down with injury, and tonight he did, pitching 7 innings of 2 run ball, yielding 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 7. He'd leave the game with a 4-2 lead and Aaron Ruffin would pitch the final two innings to pick up the save.
Luke Clark and Jerry Cramer would each homer for the Dodgers. |

10/13/2081 - Wild Card Game 2
The Dodgers got just what we needed for Game 2, a 16-2 win at home. There was a lot of good to go around. Sherman Miller pitched great throwing 6 innings of 2 run ball. Roland Nelson got his first taste of postseason ball throwing 3 shutout innings in relief to pick up the save.
Matt Mills, Ron James, Luke Clark, and Mike Williams would all go deep in the game with Clark driving in 5 runs while James and Williams each drove in 3 runs. |

10/15/2081 - Division Series Preview
In the Division Round the Dodgers will be taking on the 94 win Rockies. It'll be a tough matchup with the Rockies outscoring the Dodgers this year, and the Dodgers allowing fewer runs than the Rockies.

10/17/2081 - Division Series Game 1
The Dodgers took an early 4-2 lead over the Rockies in the second inning when Andy Jordan hit a three run homer, but Chris Moss couldn't hold the lead and was out of the game after allowing 5 runs in 2 2/3 innings. Our bullpen wouldn't allow a run the rest of the game, but the damage was already done and the Rockies won Game 1 by a score of 5-4.

10/18/2081 - Division Series Game 2
Our offense would wake up in Game 2 as the Dodgers evened up the series with a 16-8 win. Jerry Cramer hit a grand slam while Mike Williams hit a three run homer, and Matt Mills hit a solo homer.
The game started with a bang when Sherman Miller was ejected after recording just one out. Carl Miller didn't last much longer, out of the game after 1 1/3 innings and allowing 3 runs. Edgardo Salgado picked up the win with 3 innings of relief, while Pat Miller picked up the save while pitching the final 4 1/3 innings. |

10/21/2081 - Division Series Game 4
The Rockies evened up the series with a 6-5 win in Game 4. Dave Mobley picked up the loss after allowing 5 runs in 5 innings. A two run homer in the bottom of the ninth by Russell Frasier brought the Dodgers within one run, but it was too little too late. Darren Dooley added a home run.
