Huge hockey fan here because of this I've been incorporating teams into my games. Been wanting to do this project for a while and finally got my hands on the templates to do so. Decided to break down this project by eras: 1900-42, 1955-80, 1990-2004, 2010-Present, Women's Hockey (WoHo), and International (KHL, SHL, etc.).

Prior to games being televised, teams had one uniform which were literal sweaters with the team crest sewn onto it. Many teams of this era wore striped or barber poll style sweaters. Because of this, I just made one uni & cap for the following: Cobalt Silver Kings, Haileybury Comets, the original Ottawa Senators, and Seattle Metropolitans

The Cobalt Silver Kings were a founding member of the National Hockey Association (precursor to the NHL). Made up of silver miners from Cobalt, Ontario, the Silver Kings played in the 1909-10 season before withdrawing due to travel costs.

The original Ottawa Senators were founded as an independent team in 1883 and played in several amateur leagues before joining the NHA in 1910. Known as the "Silver Sevens" from 1903-06, they were one of hockey's first dynasties: defending the Stanley Cup 11 consecutive times (per the rules at the time, any team could challenge the holders of the Cup at any time). The team won or defended the Stanley Cup 20 times between 1894 and 1927. Poor attendance and the Great Depression lead the team to suspend operations for the 1931-32 season. The team would relocate to St. Louis for the 1934-35 season before folding.

Founded in 1915 to play in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, the Seattle Metropolitans were the first American team to win the Stanley Cup (1917). They would play for the Cup again in 1919 (the infamous Spanish Flu canceled series) and 1920 (losing to the Ottawa Senators). The Metropolitans and PCHA would fold in 1924 due to travel costs.

Founded in 1886, the Montreal Shamrocks spent most of their existence playing in amateur leagues. In 1910, they went professional and joined the NHA. Citing the cost of professionalism, the team withdrew prior to the following season. They returned to amateur leagues until folding in 1924.

The Renfrew Creamery Kings were based out of Renfrew, ON. One of the founding members of the NHA, the Creamery Kings, like Cobalt and Haileybury, were backed by silver mining money. Because of this, they were able to pay stars (like the Patrick brothers) higher salaries then other teams at the time, earning them the nickname "the Millionaires." The team would fold after the 1911 season, citing the lack of small towns being able to compete with cities like Toronto and Montreal financially.

Founded in 1878 as an independent team, the Quebec Bulldogs played in the NHA from it's founding in 1910 until it's demise in 1917, winning the Stanley Cup in 1912 & 1913. An original member of the NHL, the franchise went dormant from 1917-19, only icing a team for the 1919-20 season under threat of the revocation of the franchise. After this season, the team relocated to Hamilton, ON to become the Hamilton Tigers.

The Hamilton Tigers time in the NHL ended in controversy. After four years of futility, the Tigers sat atop the league at the end of the 1925 season. After the final game, the players went on strike. Citing the league expanded the schedule without compensating the players (they were paid a flat salary for the season, no matter how many games were played), the team refused to play until they received an additional $200/player. As the top team, they had a bye during the playoffs, during which the league hoped to resolve the issue. When no agreement was reached, the winner of the playoff series was declared the league champ and the Hamilton Tigers & its players were sold to Bill Dwyer's expansion franchise. Although the charter was sold to Dwyer, the NHL does not consider it a continuation of the franchise. As far as they are concerned, the Hamilton Tigers ceased operations in 1925.

A founding member of the PCHA, the New Westminster Royals played from 1912-14 before relocating to Portland, OR, to become the Portland Rosebuds. Despite their name, the Royals never played in New Westminster, BC. (They played in Vancouver).

Founded in 1911 as one of the charter members of the PCHA, the Vancouver Millionaires were the dominant team of the league. Starting in 1915, the team won 5 league championships and competed for the Stanley Cup 4 times, winning in 1915. Changing their name to the Maroons in 1922, the team would move to the Western Canada Hockey League after the PCHA folded in 1924.Both the WCHL and Maroons would fold two seasons later. In 2010, the Vancouver Canucks purchased the rights to the Millionaires and have worn their unis on several occasions.

Founded as the Victoria Senators in 1911, the team became the Aristocrats in 1913. This team is best known for defeating the Stanley Cup Champion Ottawa Senators in an exhibition then losing a formal challenge for the Cup against the Toronto Blueshirts in 1913. In 1916 their arena was commandeered by the Canadian military for use during WWI and the team relocated to Spokane, WA as the Spokane Canaries. The team folded in 1917.

After the PCHA Portland Rosebuds folded, the players formed a new team dubbed the Victoria Aristocrats to replace them.

Prior to the 1922 season the Victoria Aristocrats were renamed the Cougars. After the PCHA folded in 1924, the Cougars joined the WCHL until both folded in 1926. In their two years in the WCHL, the Cougars competed for the Stanley Cup twice - winning in 1925. The 1925 Stanley Cup win was the last by a West Coast team until the Anaheim Ducks won it in 2007.

After the Victoria Cougars folded, their players were sold to a group of businessmen in Detroit who had just been awarded an NHL franchise. The team played their first season in the NHL as the Detroit Cougars as an homage to their former club. In 1927 the team re-branded as the Detroit Falcons before finally becoming the Detroit Red Wings in 1930.

Although never a professional hockey team, this team holds a special place in hockey history. In 1920 the team won the Allan Cup. Winning gave them the opportunity to represent Canada in the inaugural Olympic hockey tourney held in Antwerp, Belgium. The team went on to win the first Olympic gold medal in hockey. The Icelandic National Team honors the Winnipeg Falcons in their crest - an Icelandic Falcon on a Canadian Maple Leaf.
