Keller competes in hot dog eating contest

Sam Keller has always been popular among the fans. But no one knew that his competitive streak stretched far beyond baseball. Keller yesterday participated in the (team's city) Hot Dog Eating Contest and took third place out of twelve contestants, consuming an incredible 42 hot dogs in the process.

"I really thought I had in the bag," said Keller. "I was ahead once we got to 40 hot dogs, but that's when I hit a wall." Keller said that he had been training for the competition for the last several months, eating hot dogs three meals a day and performing stomach-stretching exercises. "But all the training in the world is no substitution for the real thing!"

Though Keller didn't take home the trophy this time, coming home with just a stomach ache, he hopes to make another go at his soon. Team officials were dismayed by Keller's evident disregard for the team's training recommendations, but recognized that they weren't able to reign in Keller's free spirit. "That's just Sam being Sam," said Sea Nuggets GM Wes Andrews.

Kid Helps (NAME) Rediscover Stroke

(Name) has always given back to the community. That's why, every off season, he appears at local baseball clinics to help young baseball players learn the game. But this off season, a student became the teacher.

After (Name) showed 14 year old Anthony Youngly the proper batting stance and swing, Youngly responded with "but that's not what you do!" He then showed (Name) some youtube videos of his swing, pointing out the differences.

(Name) took the kid's advice to heart. "I realized the kid was right," said (Name). "I made adjustments, and my swing feels better than ever."

Effects: Increase some hitting ratings by a few points.

City Sluggers' Joe Smith shocks nation with decision to leave the game

"City Sluggers 1B Joe Smith is walking away from the game he's been playing his whole life-- to fulfill yet another one of his lifelong dreams. "After an anguishing few months and a lot of sleepless nights, I've come to realize my heart just isn't in the game anymore. It's been a good run and I couldn't be more thankful to my teammates and my coach, who have supported me every step of the way." Smith said he has always wanted to be more involved in his church, and is intending on becoming a missionary and travelling the world to help others. He leaves the game with a career .297 AVG, hitting 121 HR with 433 RBI over a span of 7 seasons."

A couple things:
  • Must have Greed rating of "Low" or "Very Low" (if possible)
  • Doesn't have to be this exact scenario.. he could want to open a car dealership or a restaurant or something else that would involve leaving the game
  • A few months before, maybe there could be a message along the lines of "Sluggers 1B Smith seems more reserved lately, not opening up to reporters as much as he normally does and becoming less of a clubhouse presence by the day. When pressed about his recent personality swing, Smith had little to offer other than he was "going through a lot at the moment" before ending the conversation.

Effects:
  • Player retires from game
oh so we have you to blame for this POS CEI. We had an ace pitcher do this the day before he was scheduled to start in the post season.
