So which csv file and column controls where those players end up?

(P.S. Check your entrys for 2 players Swain around 1900. One has an e at the end is a different player).

Thank you.

Pre-1901 = None. OOTP just randomly randomizes players end upper places in a random fashion randomly.

The Swain/Swaine players are minor leaguers.

I believe, that in some of your and/or other DB's, if you set up a fictional league with the correct TEAM ID's, players would go to their debut team. I am testing that theory again with your latest (I think) DB. This is the reason for my stream of questions.

Fictional Leagues with Historical players and Teams can be more historically accurate than the current historical league setup which uses fictional teams and sub-leagues.

How weird is that?

It is very weird and frustrating. Your work is well appreciated. I keep trying to figure out some work around's and then new ideas pop up and more questions. What are the conditions where I want to remove the OBD files, for example.

The ODB files are compacted versions of the CSV files and take precedence. If you modify any csv files you need to delete or rename the ODB files or the CSV's won't be read.

However the game will barf fairly soon in that case as the uncompressed data will shortly be too much for it to digest. OOTP will regurgitate unusual error messages when this happens. At that point your league is dead, possibly due to internal distress.

ODB files are the Ex-Lax of OOTP. They help keep things moving. It is the reason why they were created.

I see. So maybe the solution to player placement lies in utilizing BigRod's import program. Do you know if it play nicely with the .OBD files?

ODB files are only for historical. Since you may be fictional they won't do nothing.

So are all fictional leagues doomed to self destruction?

Nope, because they don't have a history until they create it.

ODB files can be thought of as a historical baseball encyclopedia and all that info is used to recreate historical baseball after 1900. Before 1900 it is a crapshoot.

It must be. My head hurts from just trying to understand all these idiosyncrasies. Thanks for your help. I think OOTP needs to integrate using DB's better. There are so many possibilities for using them.
So are the ODB files in your DB the same as what comes with OOTP 16?

Thank you.
Only one Swain (Swaine) in the database so must have fixed that already I'd suppose. Thanks for noticing the error anyways.

I am under one of those Non-Disclosure things so I cannot disclose any more info as it all is proprietary to OOTP.

They cannot be created nor accessed in a useable form by any program I have ever tried.

Because OOTP Historical is major league only based. Therefore all stats are MLE's. Just is the way OOTP works.

Plus the team name is the organization he starts his career in not the major league team he is on.

I took care of the duplicates I could figure out and am re-compiling the database with *** and KBO stats from 2009 - 2014 added. After a test run or two I'll make it available.
