OOTP 5 'Free' Download

So this free OOTP V5 is a complete version dl?

I was curious to buy 6, liek the ad says, this free version is intended to hook us... so I dled & am trying it...

Just like to know!!

1-this is the full retail version? Not watered down?

2-I have tinkered with it a bit.. cool, but I notice the font is very faint & hard to see against the background. Is there a better setting for this? Since you guys probably know! lol!

Thanking you in advance

Hello !

I'm french. I've downloaded OOTP5 free version a few days ago. It's a wonderful game but I've got a technical problem. Everytime I play a game in playbyplay mode, the game have a bug, returning to windows. When I go back to OOTP, the game exists in the schedule but does not appear in the standings.
What can I do ?

Make sure that you play with the sound turned off.

Having played DMB for years and years, I must concede that OOTP5 is a fantastic baseball experience. I wish I would have discovered this series years ago.

I started playing baseball only a few weeks ago. I love it. I'm just a little lost when I have to chose tactical options. Can someone explain to me what is "guard in line", "corners in", "pitch around" ... ?

Guard the lines is when you have the 3rd baseman and the 1st baseman play very close to the foul lines to prevent extra base hits. This is usually done in the late innings of a close game.

Corners in is when the 1st and 3rd basemen play quite a bit in on the infield. This is usually done when there runners on base and you expect a sacrifice bunt attempt.

Pitch around is when a pitcher can't or does not want to issue an intentional walk. The pitcher does not give the hitter anything good to hit and hopes to get the hitter to hit a bad pitch. This is done in many different situations in a game.

Hold Runner is when the first baseman plays close to the bag when a good base stealer is on first base. This is done to prevent the runner from stealing second and to also allow the pitcher to attempt to pick the runner off first base.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
A few more questions.
What about "Infield in", "Outfield in", "Back to pitch" ?

Infield in is used when there is a runner on third with less than 2 outs in a close game where it is important to prevent the team from scoring. This allows the infielders to play closer to home late and gives the the ability to throw a runner out at the plate on a ground ball.

Outfield in is used to for similar reasons as infield in. The goal here is to play the outfielders in close enough so that they can throw out a runner at home plate on a base hit of a floy out.

Hope this helps.

Game Manual

Hello,

I downloaded and installed the free OTP 5. I can find no manual. I found a post in FAQ that indicated that the manual was in folder named "manual" under the OTP install directory. I have no such folder. There was also a link posted to download the manual, however, it does not work.

I also looked through the install.log file and saw no reference to anything named "manual".

Does a manual come with the free version? I don't know too much about baseball and really need one.

Thank You,
Steven

Assumes you know baseball as any software manual would. To learn about baseball I suggest googling, you ought to find tons of stuff.
