Continuing from year to year?

Question: I'm nearly done with my first season of OOTP19. I'm managing the Phillies. This game is the best! When I purchase the 2020 version, how can I have continuance? Another words, how can 2020 show me as the manager of the Phillies in year #2, remembering everything from 2019? Is that possible? Thanks for your responses in advance.

You can import your game. I have a fantasy league that I've imported from 16 to 17 to 18 to 19 and without any issues.

It depends on what exactly you mean. You can play the 2019 season right now in OOTP 19. You don't have to wait for OOTP 20 to come out, although you certainly can if you choose to do that. Just continue with your game through the offseason now. Once OOTP 20 comes out, you can import your game into OOTP20 and continue from where you left off.

If you want to start a 2019 season with the 2019 rosters that come with OOTP 20, but have it remember what you did in in the 2018 season OOTP 19, well, that's not really possible.

So when I download the 20 version, I click on the "Import OOTP 19" and that will combine the 2019 season and the upcoming 2020 season? Thanks for your help in advance!

The game will continue from where ever you left off. You don't have to stop playing when your 2019 season is over, you can keep going in OOTP19.

When 20 comes out, there will an option to import an OOTP19 league, same as when you start OOTP now there is an option to import an OOTP18 league. The league can be imported and continued at any point.

If, when OOTP20 comes out you wish to play with updated rosters (as of opening day 2019) you'll have to start a new league. Or heavily edit the league you import.

DO not stop playing as many of us have been playing since previous versions as I started in 2012 (when I learned how to do it) and right now I am in season 2073. Many players way ahead of me. Have heard some in year 2200 and further on. One note of caution. Back up your game at least twice a season. Believe me you will be thankful. I lost several seasons because I didn't back it up. and Believe me you will also fall in love and root for various players and hate them when they play against you.

Thrill of victory Agony of defeat
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about if you've skipped a year

From the manual

Quote:
OOTP cannot directly import files from versions prior to OOTP 20, but all is not lost if you have one of those versions. You can download demo versions of older versions of our product from http://www.ootpdevfiles.com. The demo versions can be used to convert earlier versions of the game. For example, OOTP 17 can convert OOTP 16 games. Once you have your file into OOTP 20 format, you can import it into OOTP 21!
