Once you are on your team and make sure commish mode is off, go to the free agents page and then at the top there will be an option called scouting select it and then select your head scout. If nothing pops up then you have to have your scout scout the league.

Quick question, when I download this to desktop and extract, I get the MLB.lg folder, with only a file called 'mlb.lg.rar' inside. If I place the mlb.lg folder in my saved games folder, then open inside the game, i receive an error message saying "the loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version"
Any idea how to fix this? |

You have to extract the contents of the .RAR file - it's a compressed file, similar to the more common .ZIP.
www.izarc.org Use that, which can open RAR files and is 100% free. |

I have seen that to, not Dye asking for 20 mil, but guys asking for close to arod money but there only doing half the production. What you could try to do is change the expecting amount stars should get under the league settings. Or what I do most of the time is wait a couple of weeks and then offer them a new contract. Sometimes guys that ask for anywhere from 25-30 mil don't even sign before the season. |

I don't have the game open, but there are settings for salary expectations in the game or league setup - what are those set for?

Hey, what if i wanted the 2007 rosters, but didn't care about updated contracts and being on correct teams, i just want the players that debuted in 2007 to be available...could I use this roster set for that?

Problem
I simmed about 10 years in advance and I've noticed a problem where alot of guys become free agents, don't get signed and then just retire. Anyone else encounter this?
These are young, good players too, late 20's studs.

Are they acting like the Jermaine Dye mentioned above, wanting HUGE contracts that nobody wants to pay?

Tremendous authenticity
I was running a test sim on a new patch candidate build and had this happen:
05-13-2007 Injured (torn labrum (Shoulder)), career-ending injury! 05-14-2007 Released by the Cincinnati Reds. But of course, it was Ken Griffey Jr! |

Braves fan here...here are a few things that should probably be edited.
Opening day rotation - Smoltz, Hudson, James, Redman, Davies Opening day bullpen CL - Wickman Setup1 - Rafael Soriano Setup2 - Mike Gonzalez Middle1 - Chad Paronto Middle2 - Macay McBride Middle3 - Tyler Yates Long - Oscar Villarreal Lineup...vs RH Kelly Johnson, 2B Edgar Renteria, SS Chipper Jones, 3B Andruw Jones, CF Brian McCann, C Jeff Francoeur, RF Scott Thorman, 1B (you have him in AAA) Ryan Langerhans, LF (you have him post A's trade...if you want to have the current setup, Willie Harris should be in left, then). Against LH KJ, 2B Renty, SS Chipper, 3B Andruw, CF Francoeur, RF McCann, C Diaz, LF Wilson, 1B Bench should be C Brayan Pena*, 1B/OF Craig Wilson, IF/OF Chris Woodward, 2B/3B/LF Pete Orr, and 1B/LF Matt Diaz *When you search for Pena, it says he's on the roster, but he's actually in limbo somewhere. What I did was retire Eddie Perez (current bullpen coach for the Braves) and then go in and send Pena to the active roster. Worked well. The rest of this stuff is Braves random things that you may care about down the road. Organizational moves if your goal is to get this team looking like opening day. If it's designed to look more like today, that is noted. Majors P Carlos Almanzar released P Peter Moylan to Richmond (wasn't called up until mid-April) P Tanyon Sturtze to DL recovering from rotator cuff injury (mid-June target - 170 days). The opening day roster had him on the 15 day DL...he was transferred to the 60 day ultimately so that's probably best. P Mike Hampton to the DL 1B James Jurries went to Richmond briefly and was released. 2B/3B Willy Aybar is a toughee...if you really want realism...he's been suspended without pay and is having substance abuse problems. OF Jamal Strong plays for the Yankees AA team, Trenton. AAA Brian O' Connor released Mark Redman to Atlanta Ricardo Rodriguez released Scott Mullen released Tyler Yates to Atlanta Jason Shiell released Blaine Boyer was injured and did not play for Richmond until very recently. 100 days. Scott Thorman to Atlanta Chris Woodward to Atlanta Jason Bourgeois released David Kelton released Steve Doetsch released Trefusis Bakken (fictional?) released Onil Joseph released Brandon Jones to Mississippi Mississippi Matt Coenen released Beau Jones to Rome as a reliever Isauro Pineda (fictional?) released Phil Stockman to Richmond as a reliever Chris Waters injured...I think...didn't move him Manny Acosta to Richmond as closer Rick Aguilar released Macay McBride to Atlanta if you want opening day roster/Richmond otherwise Franklin Nunez released Jo Jo Reyes stays, but is a starter Will Kohlmeier (fictional?) released Ben Thomas and Andy Barkett released Eric Campbell to Myrtle Beach Elvis Andrus to Myrtle Beach Every OF and Lenell Frisby are probably fictional Myrtle Beach Luis Atilano will miss the year with rotator cuff surgery (injury may be wrong) and was traded before last September to the Nats organization for Daryle Ward (who is now a Cub) S. Rosas and C. Skehen look fictional Ryan Basner started in Mississippi and is in Richmond now. D. Kennedy, E. Peralta, J. Rocha, A. Bass seem fictional Matt Wright signed with the Royals organization and is at Omaha. Also fictional = everyone on the offensive side except Jean Boscan, E. Campbell, and E. Andrus Rome S. Sturkie released Aside from Beau Jones, everyone is fictional From outside the organization... Searched for Willie Harris. Problem here is I guess he was put on the Braves without him being put on the 40 man, which screws with the game so he was in no man's land. He should be at Richmond if you want to start the year with the right rosters. There are two Doug Clarks. One with Sacramento and one free agent. Retire the one from Sacramento and sign the other one to play for Richmond. Corky Miller should be in Richmond. Need to manually alter that because he was put in Atlanta, but does not show up on the roster. Buddy Carlyle should be moved from Albuguergue to Richmond Sign Trey Hodges to Richmond Braves picked up T.J. Bohn off waivers. He should be in Richmond Pete Orr needs to be manually altered to be put in Atlanta. The Braves have recently picked up Graham Koonce and Rheal Cormier and stashed them away at Richmond. Players to Add These are must-haves because they play major roles in the Braves future: LHSP Matt Harrison, RHCL Joey Devine, LHSP Dan Smith, and OF Matt Esquivel, all who play in Mississippi. There of course many others, but those four jump out. |

Ryan Langerhans is know with the Nationals because was traded for Chris Snelling.
You can't make the Rosters perfect because the Computer will just mess them up. Maybe more Retired Poeple put on the Free-Agent.

How did you formulate the ballpark factors for this set?
I noticed a huge amount of homeruns at minute maid (Lee and Berkman both led the league) and I noticed the HR factor to be really high. I checked some other stadiums also, and while I don't remember the specific numbers on a lot of parks... I do remember Dodger Stadium to be like .400 for triples. I always thought Gambos stadium spreadsheet was pretty solid - so I imported his numbers instead and got really good results. His numbers range mostly from .900 to 1.100 with a few exceptions (I think Joe Robbie, or whatever it's called these days, has a lower percentage for HR's and Avg... but it's still only about .800). Numbers in the .400's seem pretty extreme, though. You did a really great job on the set as far as getting most of the transactions and contracts. It's definitely a playable 2007 Roster - thanks for the hard work! Last edited by rdklein; 05-15-2007 at 03:58 AM. |
