Posed vs. real actions cards
I wanted to pose this question to you. Which baseball cards do you like between the shots of players from an actual game or the "I'm swinging a bat in front of a fence with a parking lot right behind me" posed cards?
I'll tell you my opinion flatly.... I hate the posed cards. Hate, hate, hate. The 2019 & 2020 Topps Heritage of Mookie Betts is just awful! At least, go out into the ball field where it looks somewhat real. Maybe I am being too picky for some of you, but those are just as bad as those old "Hey look, I am only wearing white brief underwear while smiling and pointing at nothing" underwear ads. Thoughts? Opinions? |

Depends, I think up till 1960 the game, posed and portrait cards work but after 1960 specially in recent years the posed cards look awkward in fact so do the portrait cards. One other thing I dislike and must be my age as cant think of the word lol is when the cards on its side.

I'm not a card collector but back when I had a mild interest in it I definitely preferred action shots.

Though, with a bit of digging, I came up with this one. It seems to fit your complaint which, if so, is fully justified. It looks like he showed up late for the photo session and the photographer caught him walking in from the parking lot. "Wanna do it now?" "Yeah, man. Let's get it over with. I got somethin' I gotta do." "Hey, don't swing that bat! You're going to hit the hedge."

Mookie: "So where do you want me?"
Photographer: "Uh, let's see. Out at the field? No, no. Uhhh...we'll have you stand in front of the dugout! No. Ummm...let's get you by this building, next to the hedge with the carts in the background! Great! COMPETELY natural!" |

I'd like a posing card of Bregman w/Oscar the Grouch. Or Altuve hooked to a phone charger. Or Mike Trout fishing in October.

Topps Stadium cards are great for 'real' shots.
